The Skin I’m In |
By Sharon G. Flake Review
by Y. Pinkney The book is about a teenage girl by the name of Maleeka Madison. She is kind of less fortunate. She has this friend name Charlese but she is very two-faced; she brings Maleeka clothes to school because her clothing are not up-to-date because her mother makes them and doesn’t do a good job. When she goes to school, her peers make fun of her because she has really dark skin. She has a low self-esteem about herself. Char, her two-faced friend, tries to push her around by making her do certain things. It really was a great book. I loved the book because it shows you how people take disadvantage of others and it shows you to love yourself, no matter who doesn’t. The Skin I’m In By Sharon G. Flake Review by T. Hart The Skin I’m In is a very good book. If I would give advice for anyone to read, I would tell them to read The Skin I’m In because it is talking about what we go through today and how we go through it. The main character, Maleeka Madison, is going through rough times. She listens to too many people. They tell her bad things to do and she does them. She does them because of the fact that she’s scared and can’t defend herself. But when she has to do something for her friend, she is torn between the truth and fear so she tells the truth to get out of what has happened. In conclusion, the book is very good and like I said, if I could convince someone to read this book I would because it is very interesting and good to read. Back to Top |
