I was born in Zhangjiakou, an industrial city 130 miles northwest to Beijing. As the Great Wall serpentines through, the city houses the strategic mountain pass Dajingmen and got its nickname "the northern gate of the capital". In Ming dynasty (1368-1644 AD), the court deployed strong military existence around the city to defense against the invasion of the northern Mongols.

While I grew up in northern China, where the nomadic adventure spirit is highly valued, I was educated and also influenced by the South China culture due to my family origin. In the 1960s, my grandparents moved from Jiangsu province to the north as encouraged by the new country. This sharp cultural contrast echoes with my personality and surprises me with my value acquaintance when I moved to Shanghai in my 20th. In my 25th, I came to the US, where I started a new life and cultural experience. In my leisure time, I am obsessed with swimming, travelling and reading, especially history and psychology books.
