Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thompson

Their handle names were dmr and ken respectively.

They were the creative driving force behind Bell

Labs, legendary computer science operating group.

There contribution to the hacking world was

creating UNIX in 1969. UNIX is an open operating

system for minicomputers, that helped users with

general computing, word processing and networking.

It soon became a standard language. A program

called Plan 9, was created as the next generation

of UNIX, by Rob Pike. He was a colleague of Dennis

(dmr) and Thompson (Ken). Something that is not

readily known about them is, Ritchie is the author

of the C programming language but his favorite

language in Alef. Thompson was an amateur pilot

and once traveled to Moscow to fly a MiG-29.

Dennis Ritchie is currently the head of Lucent

Technologies System Software Research Department

and Ken Thompson has extracted himself from the

hacking world completely.
