Weekly Report 8 (07/07/05)

My A/D stopped working this past weekend. It was working fine before the break for the collision avoidance; I still haven’t figured out what happened. I connected a pot and tested all pins, and they all gave me random value regardless of the voltage. I ended up getting a new processor, and I had Steven remove the old one and install this one. The A/D works fine now, and I was able to do my sensor report right on time. This week I also tested my voice recognition kit. It took me a while to make it work perfectly because there were many factors I had to account for such as word length, tone of voice, distance, and outside noise. Now, I figured out how to get good accuracy. The word needs to be more than one syllable, and it’s best if I use different tone for each word. The distance between the radio and the microphone has to be kept the same, or else it doesn’t work too well. The kit doesn’t work as well when there is unwanted noise, like a television for example.
