Weekly Report 1 (5/12/05)

My name is Wassim Tawil and I’m entering my 5th year in Electrical Engineering. I signed up for IMDL to gain some knowledge in building an intelligent machine and also to apply all the theories I’ve been learning in my classes. I think it will be a challenging and rewarding experience. I don’t have a definite idea on the kind of robot I want to build yet; I’m trying to find something I’m capable of building within ten weeks. I have a few ideas and I think I’ll decide by the end of this week. At that time, I will also order my board. I will buy the MAVRIC-IIB from bdmicro.com. I bought the book by Joseph Jones, Mobile Robots: Inspiration to Implementation which I will use in conjunction with the class lectures. The last time I had a C programming class was two years ago, so I will consider buying a manual to refresh my memory.
