All joking aside, global warming is a serious problem which needs to be dealt with. The United States' dependence on fossil fuels is a two-fold problem. Not only does it contribute to the main problem of global warming which affects everyone on Earth, but it also causes problems specific to our own country. The demand for oil (a type of fossil fuel) is so great in this country that our own natural resources are not sufficient to meet it. We are forced to turn to foreign nations to meet our demand. These nations are able to control the supply of oil and force the United States to make foreign policy decisions based on the need for oil instead of other considerations.
