Spatial Oscillator

interactive audio-visual performance

This work begins with the idea that the space for performance is in a stable state of energy and full of invisible particles. When a performer enters, the space, as being disinclined to embrace human being, begins oscillating that causes the fluctuation of its particles. As the result of the interaction between the space and the performer in terms of energies and movements, the energy of the human and the space is merged into new stage.

Sounds represent the movement and density of particles in the virtual space. The data from the performer that comes through the camera is mapped into the parameters to generate the characteristics of the granular sound such as the density and the activity of particles, timbre, tension in pitch, and texture.

Images illustrate the energy and stimulation of the space by using materials including horizontal, vertical lines and particles whose color and quality is designed to be modified according to the intention of the performer.
