The world is becoming so bizarre it is truly becoming scary. I am not much for the television or for the news, but after hearing a friend of mine go on and on about some of the hot topics of late, I just had to turn on the tube and see it for myself. There are so many strange things going on right now, it is hard to know where to start, but I will try.
First of all there is the man in Austria with his daughter that he had locked in the basement for the past 24 years. Yeah, he fathered some children for her, so I guess that makes it okay or something. Then I hear a comment in the news saying that the mother didn't realize that she was that close. Oh, come on, what do these people not have brains. Did she never go into the basement, or file a police report when her daughter went missing? Did she really believe that the 3 children she was raising from this incident were really just found at her doorstep? What about the man who did all this? He had 7 children with his daughter, 6 who survived, and he took 3 out of the basement, but left 3 locked in the basement? Why did he only take 3? I have seen pictures of this man, and if he doesn't look like a Nazi, than I don't know who does.
Then there is the lovely other story of the hour, the story about the polygamist compound, where they were forcing underage girls to have sex with grown men, under some guise of a religious bond. And people are actually saying that this is our government taking away their religious freedom? Well, as far as I know, we can not just excuse away all of our sins, by saying they are a religious act. I believe that we need our freedoms from our government, however, if we let everyone who breaks the law, use religion as an excuse, then where would we be?
What is happening to the people in this world? Where do things like conscience fit into our society? These are just two incidents that happened in the past few days, but there are many, many more examples of people going wacko, mothers and fathers killing their own children, kids being taken from their homes in the middle of night, kidnapped out of friend's houses while they are sleeping, disappearing on vacation…need I say more? What can we do in this world that is so obviously out of control, and what is causing this aberration of the human soul? Are people somehow being born without souls now, or is there something in the water that is creating a universe of sickos?
I am really not sure at this point what the future on this planet will look like, or if we even have one. So many seemingly normal people are not. How can we tell the good guys from the bad guys? How can we teach our children right from wrong, when it seems that everywhere you look, things are just wrong, wrong, wrong?
