Don't Let Them Think For You
Wednesday, March 12, 2008
In general I think that the public is numb to the idea that the government uses media to control our thought processes. I am not a big fan of the television and quite honestly I almost never watch it. I occasionally here people talking about reality TV and it really disgusts me. What is real about watching people who know that they have a TV camera watching them 24/7? I mean don't you think that changes who they are and how they act? Just does not make any sense to me.
The little bit of TV I have seen makes things seem way to graphic and real. When I was a kid, they weren't allowed to show as much violence on TV and they also were not allowed to use some of the very explicit language that they use. It quite frankly is disgusting to say the least.
Then there is the TV news. Doesn't anyone wonder how you can watch all the news programs, and they are all covering the same exact stories? Well, I know it is because they are being told what to feed us. If everyone covered the stories they thought were important, the news would be a very different experience I assure you. The news pretends to go along with the whole freedom of speech thing, except believe me, if they even tried to air something that was not for public knowledge, you better believe that they would pull it in a heart beat. The they of them control everything we hear and see, so you need to use filters when you watch these news items. For instance, when I was a kid we didn't have the constant bombardment of "severe weather warnings" that we have today. Sure we had weather and storms, but they seem to have pumped every weather event up into a hurricane or a blizzard or something. Every time it rains or snows or the wind kicks up a little we all need to run for cover. I think that it is a diversion, a way to keep us worried about other things so that we won't take a good hard look at the state of the world.
Also, I have noticed that with the news, certain stories will start getting media coverage and then stop, without a word about them again. I guess these stories are the ones that the government doesn't want us to know and pull right out from under us. And why is it that for like a month straight you will hear about rapes and then the next month it is all about kidnappings, etc. Just a coincidence…I think not. I think it is again a way to get our focus onto keeping ourselves and our families safe and not at the bigger picture.
These are just some examples of how things are not always what they seem. In any case, I hope that you will be sure that no matter what you hear on that little box in your living room, that you take the time to turn on your brain and think about it, and see if things are making sense to you. Don't be a brain dead zombie, just spouting out the things you heard on the television as fact. Spend more time reading and less time watching the tube, and before long you will find the thinker in yourself. He is there just let him out and you will see things a little differently.
