Blue Sea Star
Habitat:Sea Stars live in marine ecosystems, usually on the bottom of the sea floor.

Food: They eat barnacles, snails, sea urchins, clams, and mussels by cracking a tiny hole in the shell and inserting its stomach into the shell, then it pulls its stomach back out when it's finished.

Body Covering:
They have spiny skin with tiny bumbs that absorb oxygen and clean the surface of their skin.

Movement:
Sea Stars have tiny feet on the bottom of each ray (arm). These "feet" pump water through tubes to propel its self along.

Cool Facts:

  • Sea stars are not actually fish (they have no fins).
  • They can re-grow arms that have broken off, and some can even re-grow entire bodies from a single piece of arm!
