promotional items
After looking for a new job for the past several months, I finally landed a job at a promotional items company. I take orders over the phone, and I am really enjoying it. It is a very interesting job and I have learned all about the products that we carry. I especially like it when the customers call up and need some help making their decisions about which promotional products will give them the most for their money. I love finding out about all the neat ways people use our products to advertise and then I use this information to help my future clients. It is really great. Before doing this I never really realized how many different things that you can put your business logo and name on. We get tons of orders for pens from a lot of banks and doctor's offices, but our company is so much more than that. We have t-shirts and as a matter of fact about 2 days ago I had an orthodontist's office order a bunch of shirts. What they told me is that when they go into schools for career day, they do a raffle and give away a free shirt to a student. The shirts are so cute though. They have a big yellow smiley face and the smiley face is wearing braces. Then in hot pink letters it says the name of the orthodontist and then it says for smiles that last a lifetime. I can't take credit for their idea, but I thought it was a really clever one. In addition to t-shirts and pens, there are a lot of different products that we carry. We have umbrellas, mugs, carry bags, magnets and key rings. Pretty much, you name it, and we will put a logo on it for you.
I never really thought about selling promotional products for a living, but quite honestly, it is a fun business. I really enjoy working with the clients and I love the neat products and design ideas that I see each day. It has been a great opportunity for me to earn some extra money while going to school, and ironically I have decided to go for a degree in marketing and advertising because I love working for this company so much. It is amazing all the different career paths that there are in the world, and so many of them we just never consider.
