apotheke

My mother needs a lot of medication and with the cost of everything going up and up she has decided it is time to see if she can't take a chunk out of her bill for medication each month. A friend of hers buys online prescription medications from Canada and has found the service very reliable. My mother is a little skeptical about getting prescriptions from Canada though, because she has seen a few news articles on the subject and has gotten information that these companies and medications may not be what they appear. She wants to look into purchasing some of her medications from Europe and has been particularly looking into purchasing some meds from Germany. She has been struggling with the information from these companies since much of the information is in German and she is also unsure of the money conversion factor, so she has asked me to look into a few companies for her. Thank goodness, I know how to convert money online and how to translate web sites, so this information will be helpful in this project. The first website I came across seems to be the best and their information reads:

Welcome to the world's best VERSANDAPOTHEKE. We offer a wide variety of prescription and non-prescription drugs. We are a full service APOTHEKE offering a trained and licensed staff that will provide you with your prescription drugs at less than half the price. We will ship our products securely anywhere in the world. We have a proven track record of excellent and efficient handling of prescription medications to customers all around the globe.

This translates to:

This company has a great track record and the customer satisfaction statements to prove it. I have also researched their company online and there are amazingly no complaints. I even spoke to a Dr. friend of mine who said that he will check on Mom's medication when it comes to verify that it is the real thing. I told Mom all this and she has ordered and is waiting on her first prescription from this mail order company.

promotional items

Thursday, August 28, 2008 9:26 AM, Taylor Paige

Last night my roommate and I were looking online at a makeup website and saw that they were promoting free shipping with orders over 50 dollars, so we decided that we would both look and order together since we live together to get the free shipping. When I was checking out, I saw that you can add 3 promotional items to your bag, which made me so excited. So I went through all of the products and picked 3 of them that I thought I would love. And of course they were tiny samples of very expensive items like 200 dollar perfume and bronzer that is worth more than a month's rent, so obviously when they have promotional products like those people jump at them and a lot of people I'm sure get hooked on them and end up buying them in the future. It was such a great experience during my online shopping that I seriously can't wait to go on again. I'm considering buying more stuff just to get more free samples (which seems so silly obviously), but promotional items can do that to you. First free shipping then free gifts! I couldn't wait to come back for more, especially since the free stuff is something I wouldn't normally buy but want to. The company knows that these items are out of most people's price range so they make them free (a very tiny sample) so that when people spend money at their store, they will get a tiny free sample of that product and probably come back and spend more when their sample runs out so that they can get another sample.

I remember over the summer we would hand out these coupons for every 50 dollars you spent you would get 25 dollars off. But the 25 dollars off would come a month later so you would have to keep your coupons stapled to your receipt and have to remember to come back to use them (and it fell on the 3 days over fourth of July weekend) so of course no one's going to redeem those coupons, but when they were buying 50 because they thought they got 25 dollars free, they didn't hesitate to spend.

It all amazes me. I wonder who thinks of these promotions and if they ever feel like they are screwing people over? I wonder if they can sleep at night.

financial blog

Wednesday, August 27, 2008 9:56 AM, Taylor Paige

These days all anyone can seem to think about is money. It is hard to think about anything else, when every where you look they are raising the price of something else and claiming that it is all because of the price of gas. Honestly, the price gouging that has been allowed to go on in the food industry should be seriously addressed by our federal government. They won't allow the oil companies to do it, so why are they allowing the food companies to rob us blind. In any case, with all the financial strain on everyone, we are all looking for new and better ways to stretch the ever shrinking dollar. I have already ordered a Brita pitcher to start filtering my own water instead of buying bottled water. Not only will this save me money, but it will help save the environment as well. Not only that, but I have begun reading up online about different ways to save money and I have found some really great tips. Not just from news articles, but also from some different blogs. I have found a very good financial blog at www.thoughtsonfinance.com. This blog has some really good advice about saving money on gas and good information about savings and debt and credit cards. I found it a really good read, and I am glad I stumbled across it. I will check back in a few weeks and see what else this person has written. I also found a good blog about debt. In this blog the person doesn't just talk about debt, but also about how to get out of debt, how to stay out of debt, and some good money saving tips and advice. I guess I really enjoy the exchange of ideas that goes on on the web. It is a free forum for anyone to state their thoughts, case, or opinions on just about anything. For me I especially find the information about debt and savings very helpful, not only is it useful, but it also helps me to not feel so alone in my misery. It is very freeing to read about these topics and to know that there are some steps we can take to try an free up a few extra dollars, unfortunately these days if they aren't going into our gas tank they are going in our mouths.

blog about banking

Thursday, August 21, 2008 8:47 AM, Taylor Paige

Sometimes I just enjoy writing. It doesn't have to be about anything specific, but I do find that alot of time it helps me get my thoughts clear and straight. A friend of mine suggested blogging and I had a general sense of what this was, but she explained it in a little bit more detail to me. It sounded like a plan, but I really did feel that I needed to get a better sense of how and what to write about so I did some research on blogs and read many of them. I particularly liked some of the blogs that I found online. There are blogs about everything, believe it or not. I guess I never realized that when I was looking up information about something on the web, I could be accessing someones personal thoughts on something. For instance, there is a very professional blog at www.homemarketthoughts.com. There is a lot of good information in this real estate market blog. Lots of information about buying and selling, about renting both for business and for pleasure. It was a very nicely done blog. I looked at a few other real estate blogs but none impressed me as much as this one did. I also came across a great blog about banking at www.bankingthoughts.com. Again, there is a lot of really good, well organized information on this site and it has a very professional look to it. The last one that really impressed me was a party planning blog at www.partyplanningthoughts.com. This blog has some super party ideas, which I am going to use for my daughter's birthday next week.

I guess the thing that I liked most about all these blogs is that they were very professional, not just the rants and ravings of a lunatic like some blogs are. I looked over about 100 blogs and these three were the ones that stood out most in my mind. The great thing about blogging is that you can write about whatever you want, about your thoughts on the world, your ideas, and most of all your feelings. It is great to be able to write about anything you want unedited and uninterrupted. A nice feeling also, to read blogs by others who have had similar thoughts, feelings and experiences. Who knew the internet could do so much for bringing people together?

insurance blog

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 2:00 PM, Taylor Paige

American's have a lot on their minds these days. The economy is suffering and with so little money available to everyone, I can see the internet is about to become our main source of information, education, and entertainment. I love to travel, but with the economy the way it is I am honestly afraid to spend too much money on it. I like to create a wish list for myself of places I want to visit and so I find a travel industry blog like www.travelersthoughts.com and go on there to find out some interesting places to travel as well as some good travel tips.

Lately I have also been checking out an insurance blog to try and find out some more information on getting the most for my money. There are some great tips I found on this one blog www.insuredthoughts.com. With the economy being so tight I am looking for a way to save money any way I can. Since my husband lost his job last year, we have not had any insurance and so I often research my health questions online. There is an excellent blog about health at www.thoughtsonhealth.com. I found a very interesting blog about sleep and weight loss and how getting more sleep can actually help you lose weight. I guess it makes a lot of sense if you think about it, being tired is bound to make you feel more drained and therefore will make you eat more, especially sugar foods for energy and we all know that sugar turns to fat in your body. Anyway, I have been trying to lose weight and I was very glad to have this fact brought to my attention.

There is so much knowledge to be had on the internet. I have learned a lot already about saving money, cutting coupons (I even get my coupons and sale circulars online). It seems like everyday I learn something new online, and I love to read all the information both news and blogs on the web. There is really some great information out here, you just have to find it.

luau party

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 9:27 AM, Taylor Paige

My friend burst in my room all excited and plopped on my bed. I asked him what he was so excited about. Did he get a new skin for his iphone? Did he see a cool basketball clip on ESPN? Nope, he was going to finally propose to his girlfriend! So now I was the one all excited and jumping on my bed.

For girls who start to expect that their dating relationship will (finally) blossom into a marriage, proposals are a matter of suspense, excitement, and expectation. For guys, its also a matter of all three of these things, but with one notable difference: stress. They have to plan the perfect proposal, one that blends surprise, class, affection, romantic flairs, and a personal, unique touch. Guys often measure themselves to other proposal stories theyve heard, and try to do equally well or better. Of course, many dont feel that urge to put on a spectacular show and simply ask in a unique, tasteful way. But my friend really wanted to do something special.

His idea was throw a luau party for his girlfriends birthday, which was coming up in about two weeks. He would propose during the party in front of all our friends so that we could all celebrate with him. At first, I was skeptical at the thought of proposing in the midst of tiki torches, roast pigs, and cheap leis, but realized that it could be a very unique idea that really fit them as a couple.

We went around town picking up party supplies for the luau party and got all the usual items. On top of that though, we picked up some accents for the party, namely, glow sticks and glow necklaces. At first, these glow items seemed like a very weird touch to a luau party. After all, who wears cheesy, neon glow necklaces during a romantic proposal? But if you know my friend, it would make perfect sense he loves to add quirky touches to all he does, and his girlfriend adores him for that. So anyways, we picked up these glow sticks and glow necklaces and some last minute party supplies and headed home.

While his sister was setting up the basic elements of the luau party, my friend and I were busy arranging the glow items for the guests and throughout the party site. We eventually arranged some of the glow sticks to spell out Marry Me, and I wont say the rest, but theyre now happily married!

california treatment center

Monday, August 18, 2008 4:06 PM, Taylor Paige

When I first met my husband I already had my first child, she was 8 months old. We met at orientation for a new job and I caught him looking at me during the orientation and I knew that if given the opportunity he would ask me out. Sure enough on a break he came up to me and we started talking. He asked if he could take me out to lunch and I said yes. Well, he seemed nice enough and we went out a few times. Then I noticed that he wasn't at work and I couldn't get in touch with him on the phone, and I thought that was strange, but we really weren't too serious at that time, so I just rode it out. Then one day his parents showed up at my work and asked me if I had seen him. I told him that I hadn't and they explained to me that he had disappeared and taken their car. I was a little shocked, but again, at this point I wasn't too involved so it did not rock my world. He called me the next day and told me about his drug problem. I really didn't know what to say, I really didn't know much about drug addiction. He told me that he had been in rehab before, and since he was using drugs again he was going to go to a drug treatment for men and he would be gone for 2 months. I wished him luck. We called and wrote, but I never went to see him in the California treatment center. He asked me to come, but I guess I wasn't sure what to think. His drug of choice was crack cocaine, and I knew for a fact that this was a tough habit to break. After all, I had a kid and didn't want to get my hopes up that he was going to come back and stay clean. During rehab he had a seizure and they had to put him on some meds, but apparently because of his pattern of using the detox wasn't too bad. When all was said and done he did return from rehab and did get and stay clean with the help of counseling and NA. About 5 months after he got out of rehab we moved out of state and away from his family, which rehab warned was probably the main cause of his substance abuse. He has been clean for 10 years and is still going. I am very proud of him and all he has accomplished.

payday loans

Wednesday, August 13, 2008 12:25 PM, Taylor Paige

Payday loans are one of the best inventions. Whoever came up with the idea was obviously a person who couldn't get a loan at a bank, and knew that they weren't the only one out there who was struggling financially and needed cash fast. Let's face it, we all fall short now and again, and isn't it really great to know that there is a place where you can go to get money fast and without any credit check. There is no bank in the world that operates as quickly and simply as your local cash advance place. So let's say that someone needs some quick cash to pay an unexpected bill or bail someone out of jail, or their car breaks down on the side of the road and they need to get it repaired to be able to get back and forth to work. There are many legitimate reasons why a person could need to get cash quickly.

If you are in a spot like this and you don't have a large savings or any savings and you don't have a good credit rating, well then you are up a creek. There isn't a bank in the world that is going to feel sorry for you or come to your rescue, and that is exactly the need that businesses like these fill. Being able to have a friendly neighborhood place that you can turn for assistance like a family member or a close friend is truly a blessing.

I have met several people who are living on the streets and the one big difference between the people on the streets and the people who are hanging on by a thread is the availability of people to help them when they are struggling financially. Having someone to turn to in your time of need makes all the difference.

Whether you opt to try free payday loans or no fax payday loans, if you find yourself in a pinch go to one of these places and they can really help you out. It is simple to do and takes usually less than an hour to get approved and you can walk out with the cash you need the same day. Now that is help!

antivirus software programs

Wednesday, August 13, 2008 12:07 PM, Taylor Paige

In recent years, and with the growth of the internet, more and more people are using the information highway to scam and rip off others. There are many ways to do this, and lucky for us the criminals find new ways every day. It is really hard to keep up with their latest scams and security breeches and they try to stay one step ahead of the authorities, usually successfully I might add. Crime that takes place online can be very difficult to prosecute because most of the good criminals know how to bury their IP addresses and elude the authorities. It is like an invisible crime.

Currently in our country our highest area of crime is identity theft. Most of the identity theft in this country is done on the internet. You think you are on a safe and secure website, but then your information gets stolen somewhere along the line, and you are clueless as to how this happened.

The Computer Security Division of US government is working to try and keep the internet safe. They are focusing more on computer vulnerabilities and antivirus software programs. They feel that focusing on antivirus & security that they will be able to provide us with a safer and more secure online climate, however does this mean that the internet is safe.

Well, actually you will be glad to know that the internet is actually relatively safe considering how many people and different sources are accessible on the web. There are however steps that you can take on a more personal level to insure that your information remains safe and secure.

First, only put in your personal information if the form you are using is showing as a secure form. Secondly, be sure to use antivirus software on your computer and be sure to update it often. These updates will keep your computer aware of the latest security updates, and if you don't update your computer will not be as secure as it can be. Lastly be sure that you do not respond to links in e-mails from unknown sources or even known sources. Always access sites directly by typing their address into your browser, and if you ever click on a link check the address on top, this can clue you in to spoof and fraudulent e-mails that can steal your identity. Mozilla has a great thing that alerts you if they suspect a page is a fraud and it costs you nothing to download Mozilla and use it as your primary instead of Internet Explorer.

Anything that you personally can do to make your internet experience safer, is worthwhile. You don't want to become a victim of internet fraud.

fire damage restoration

Tuesday, August 12, 2008 1:45 PM, Taylor Paige

You never realize how important insurance is until you actually need it. For most people insurance is something that you purchase wondering if you will even need it, well honestly, you may. We don't like to anticipate that we will ever have to file an insurance claim for a major car wreck, theft, or loss of property. You go along paying your premiums sometimes wondering if this is a bill that could just as easily fall by the wayside, well take it from me, it is extremely important, it can be you.

When I started school things were very financially strapped and one of the things we let slide was our renter's insurance policy. Now I know that may sound irresponsible to you, but both of us had grown up and had never experienced any type of property loss. We really on some level thought that we were immune to it. After all, who would really know that we didn't have renter's insurance. Well, this is a lesson we learned the hard way. While we were out one night last month, our house burned to the ground. Talk about devastation, there is none greater than coming home and finding out that you no longer have one. Now granted we did not own the actual dwelling, but we did own all the contents. Everything we owned in the world was in that place, and now was gone. If you have never been through a fire, let me tell you not only does everything get burned up and smoke damaged, but then to add insult to injury everything also gets doused in water and begins to get moldy. It is really quite overwhelming. Well, thank goodness we have family to fall back on and we were able to get some help from the Salvation Army, but it is still to date the most horrifying experience of my whole life. It was determined that the fire was not our fault, thank goodness, and that instead it was caused by an electrical problem in the actual house. My landlord said that he was sorry that we lost everything and that he would try to get the house rebuilt, however fire damage restoration was going to cost more than the insurance was willing to pay, and even if he could have the house rebuilt immediately, it would still take at least 6 months before they could get everything cleaned up and start building.

In any case, I think that we will be staying with Mom and Dad a little while, at least until we can get together enough money to move and purchase renter's insurance.
