My husband and a group of neighbors formed a committee to investigate long-range planning solutions for our neighborhood. The Board of Supervisors for our county requested that these citizens spend time reviewing current plans and making suggestions for future changes to the current long-range plans. This project had not been reviewed for over ten years and, with so many changes taking place, it was definitely time to revisit these plans and update according to today's requirements.

The Committee was made up of approximately 15 people, all from different walks of life. We had a newspaper reporter, a radio announcer, a local businessman in the heating and air conditioning business, a restaurant owner, several county employees, and my husband, an architect. The area was certainly well represented and cool heads prevailed during the discussions about the future of our county.

The Committee attended classes designed to assist them with this project. The classes showed them how to focus on specific areas and how to record their findings. They were very useful and, after over two years, their report was finished and submitted for approvals and/or comments. Everyone seemed quite pleased, the comments were addressed and the report was finalized.

A member of the County was aware of a nationwide contest regarding successful planning in counties across the country. He and his manager prepared to submit the work of this committee for consideration in this contest. My husband' committee were chosen as finalists in the contest and invited to participate in the final presentations to be held in Italy in June. Everyone was very excited and started planning how they would present their ideas and accomplishments at this final competition.

Unfortunately, we suddenly realized that the County budget could not accommodate the expenses involved in attending this final event. The number of attendees was limited to those who had the most participation, and my husband was chosen to attend along with a few other representatives of the Committee and the County. Now it was time to investigate the costs involved before we could commit to participation.

Cheap international flights were not readily available. We visited all the websites we could think of and eventually found a very small selection of cheap international airfares. We did not have time schedule flexibility as we have to participate in our presentation on specific dates. We visited discount airfare sites and every place we could think of that might offer cheap flights. We were very fortunate to eventually confirm cheap international airfares with a famous airline. Obviously, they had not sold as many tickets as anticipated and were willing to provide us with a block of tickets that would get several of our participants to the competition in time. We were holding our breath until these cheap international flights became available for us.

We are now able to plan on attending this competition and hoping to be among the top ten competitors in the nation. First Prize will always be our goal.

Sardinia

Tuesday, April 29, 2008 8:30 PM, Taylor Paige

I am going to now attempt to tell you about a vacation that I took with my family last year to a place called Sardinia. I need to practice my Italian for a job I am getting over the summer, and so I am going to type all the text for this description in Italian.

flights

Today for my psychology class I got some of my research experience done for the semester. We have to do at least six studies throughout the semester which accounts for about twenty percent of our final grades. I had done five pretty interesting studies so far this semester and I only had one more to do by the end of next week when the grades are due. Last week I signed up for this one knowing that it would be very early in the morning so I could get stuff done for the rest of the day. I had not idea at the time that the experiment would be so interesting. Basically the study was about the psychology of people's drive for discount airfares. It doesn't sound very interesting when I lay it out that way, but it was sort of stunning what we found at the end. Basically the way it worked was they had set up a database of discount flights that are actually being sold today. Our task was to use the destination that they gave us and find the best cheap airfares. We had to take in to account not only the price, but the quality of each airline. We had to sort through a ton of information which was not organized in any way. It was interesting at the start to see just how many cheap airfares there were on any given day. The first part of the task was to find a domestic flight and the second one was to find an international flight. I found it even more interesting to see how many cheap international flights there are each day. It was also interesting to see what they were actually going after in the study. Because apparently the reaction across all people was similar. People looked more frantically and reported higher feelings of satisfaction after finding cheap international flights. They said this was due to the higher weight we put on the value of an international flight over a domestic flight. They were looking at just one aspect of the level of arousal we gain from searching for the bargain. They said that we could have changed the subject of what we were searching for and the results probably would be very similar.

diesel generators

Monday, April 28, 2008 8:02 PM, Taylor Paige

With the start of spring just in time for earth day, I have begun my own independent green technology work. This past sunday was our earth day festival here in town where we were celebrating all of the good things that have been done to help stem the growing problem of global warming, as well as to look ahead and inform people about what new things they can do to change what has been going on. The coolest part for me was the fact that the whole show was built on the old solar power generator that was used to power our center for sustainability. Before it was repaired we were actually thinking about using converted diesel generators that are powered on vegetable oil. Either way these two sources would have made a great uninterruptible power supplies throughout the day. THis is especially important when you are running power to a bunch of bands and professors that are representing the power that our movement has. I think the whole day went very well and everyone left with a sense of where we are in our transition to green energy and technology. I think that the most important part though is not the position we are in right now, but what steps each one of us is going to make in the immediate future to help with the problem. I my self am personally trying to develop some different ways to make my life a little bit more energy efficient. One big way that also relates to diesel generators is my car. I drive an old diesel sedan and I am trying to work out converting it over to running on vegetable oil. For this project I will actually be making the biggest change in my energy consumption and my pollution output I think I have made to date. This would increase my cars efficiency and reduce its pollution output drastically in a very immediate amount of time. This is just one of a couple of ways I will be trying to overhaul my energy consumption and pollution contribution habits in the near future.

dating

Monday, April 28, 2008 7:20 PM, Taylor Paige

I have this friend, call him John, and he has been feeling a bit lonely these days. John is really a great guy and is a great friend. He is going to graduate in this next nine months and is feeling a pinch that I hope I don't have to go through. John is graduating and will be going out in to the job world within the next year. He is this kind of person who knows a lot about people and is a very kind and caring person. So it's not like he doesn't have a lot going for him as a person or financially, he's a business major. Unfortunately for John he has not had one girlfriend since he came to college. There have been plenty of girls that have come in to our shared apartments, but none of them were apparently interested in such a great guy. They all went to those guys who have since been very wrong for them all. In response to this desire to have a companion to go out in to the world with, John has been going to various internet resources for some help. He began his search by looking in to a whole bunch of free chat rooms. This search proved to be a little bit of a chicken pecking at the dirt type of situation. He found a couple of promising people, but they proved to be much worse than they made themselves out to be. His next move has been to focus his efforts on face to face meetings but not rule out the use of internet resources. He has been doing some of the internet smooch dating web sites, but only the ones that pick out ones that really match your interests. One cool thing about these sites that makes his search a bit easier is that they offer the matching program, but they also give you free online dating which you may have thought about before. For him these have proven to be the best because he has been able to meet three different women who would not have otherwise been placed in a situation with him, but are also very compatible with his personality and interests. I look at John's search as a success, but I hope that I don't ever have to go through a search but just fall in to a relationship.

VoIP

Wednesday, April 23, 2008 1:30 PM, Taylor Paige

One thing that makes me think is that what happens if a person has already installed IP telephony onto his or her computer, and then the computer breaks down. That means that if the person has gotten rid of the "back-up" - a regular landline or cellphone - he or she is totally doomed because once the computer broke down, he or she is not able to make or receive calls to anyone or from anyone. Obviously, the benefits of softphones are great, since they have a much higher degree of sound quality, security, etc, etc. But that actual reason that a softphone is called a softphone is that voice over IP actually depends on the computer software to be able to function correctly. And if the software is not there or damaged, then the softphone is doomed? I guess that these pbx phone systems are just much more suitable for businesses that have the regular phone lines anyways. Business telephone systems need a much higher resolution - i.e., ability to let through many more calls than regular house lines and also need that extra VoIP security that does not come with the regular land line that can be tapped or simply damaged by adverse weather conditions. Another objection to the VoIP systems might be that a virus that gets into the computer somehow can damage the softphone and mess with the contacts in that phone and so forth. I honestly do not know anything about that, but I believe that there has to be a certain protective system embedded in these softphone that protects them from computer viruses. It just seems strange that it is not a very popular concept in the world yet, but the popularity of the pbx phone systems is increasing. There are currently several companies on the softphone market, including Unified Communications, that offer more and more variety and high quality of these reliable and secure business communication systems. I hope that this technology will gain more and more popularity in the future, since it seems that these VoIP systems are exactly what most professional businesses would want!

concert ticket brokers

Sunday, April 20, 2008 3:31 PM, Taylor Paige

There is a program my university offers through one of its arts organizations that gives out tons and tons of free tickets to its members every semester. We're talking movie tickets, theatre tickets, concert tickets, symphony tickets, ballet tap and jazz tickets, the works. Free and/or very cheap. I have seen an incredible amount of local plays through the organization - and not only can you get your tickets for free, they provide you with transportation and, usually, either dinner beforehand or dessert afterwards. And sometimes you will get a talkback with the actors or the artists or musicians or whatever creative artist's work you have come to see. It's really fantastic and, aside from being free, allows you to bypass the stickiness of dealing with ticket brokers, so much of which is done online now - doing online searches for concerts, for example, and entering all of your credit card info into a concert ticket brokers' website, figuring out if you have enough time to get the ticket sent to you (and then there is usually an extra charge for that, and an extra charge for buying online), or whether you ought to pick it up at the door. This organization, by contrast, sends out lists weekly or sometimes even more often delineating all of their events, and the cost of these events, or lack thereof. Times, dates, and places all included. Usually even a snazzy picture or two to get you excited. Then all you do is email or sign up through the website to reserve your space, and meet at the designated time in the student union.

I wonder how many other universities have organizations like this? I'm sure they all should, if they don't. At least ones in relatively sizable cities that have lots of cultural events going on. I'll bet that the organization has lots of deals and agreements, and a lot of the arts companies and organizations give it those tickets for quite cheap. It's a good way to increase audience size and get word out about the show to an often hard-to-reach demographic: college students.

spy camera

Sunday, April 20, 2008 3:22 PM, Taylor Paige

When I go into RiteAid or other local drugstores, I like to wander around and amuse myself. To the extent that I sometimes worry a little bit about whether or not there are hidden cameras around - because I wonder if there are employees sitting in the back room laughing at me. I like to sample the little makeup samples, but I like to put on makeup in ways that I would never put it on otherwise - too thick, too strong, too big. I mean, what else is sample makeup for? But some little spy camera in a small makeup mirror would yield some pretty funny faces for a group of RiteAid workers in the break room to giggle at.

Or, you know, sometimes they have aisles of costumes for Halloween or all sorts of Easter accessories, or Christmas or Valentine's Day accessories. And sometimes it's fun to play a little bit of dress-up if you have a little bit of free time. There aren't too many places in the area anymore to play dress-up, now that the vintage clothing store moved out. We just have an American Apparel and a Rue 21 now - boring. Probably more spy equipment there, too. RiteAid is much more fun.

Of course, I am stupid enough to like to stand and watch myself in the authority- surveillance monitor near the front door anytime I am waiting for someone I'm with (i.e. a friend) to get done in the checkout line. I make all sorts of faces into that, and I know they're recording it. So I guess I must not actually care that much. Whatever I do there, it can't be as bad as what my sister got into at a Walgreens in Chicago. Suffice it to say, she's now known in that Walgreens as "Ten-Second Girl," and they still have the video tape - and now a picture of her tacked up to their corkboard in their break room. If you can believe the things the cashiers tell her.

Bill consolidation

Sunday, April 20, 2008 3:14 PM, Taylor Paige

Bill consolidation is about the only way I know to reduce your debt and make it manageable. The one thing you can do is contact a company who specializes in this particular field. The first thing you must do is figure out what your monthly income is. Then you must get together all your monthly bills and have them ready when you call a debt consolidation expert.

They will help you put all your bills into one affordable monthly payment. I especially recommend this, if you are getting ready to enter school. You do not want to have a million bills hanging over your head when you enter school, since the amount of time you will have available to work will be limited. Some companies will offer you bill consolidation loan. Basically, this service will not only allow you to make all your bills into one lower monthly payment, but will also reduce the interest charges, eliminate late fees, and stop over the limit charges.

These type of companies will help you figure out a monthly budget payment that you can make every month. Something reasonable, that will not leave you unable to pay your utilities, rent, or food bills.

Many people are embarrassed to call a company like this and ask for help, but don't be. If you need to call them, you can easily look up a debt consolidation company on the internet and they can get you on the road to eliminating your debt in no time.

It is more embarrassing quite honestly, to allow your credit to go in the toilet. You need to get help, before bankruptcy, foreclosure and repossession become your reality. At least if you can put all your bills together, then perhaps you can return to school and get your degree which will help increase your earning potential.

I think that many people go into debt, because the credit card companies allow you much more credit than you can really afford to pay. If you have a limited income, then this is a trap you definitely want to avoid. Once you have a credit card, it is really easy to buy things that you otherwise could not afford. You must avoid doing this. You should not buy anything on credit that you can not afford to pay cash for today. If you follow this rule, there should not be a large debt accumulated that you can not pay off.

Being debt free is one of the best things that I have done for myself. I didn't have a huge amount of debt, but loan consolidation was able to help me eliminate my debt and remain debt free.

fax server

Saturday, April 19, 2008 4:49 PM, Taylor Paige

I am so glad this totally insane week is finally almost over. Even though I will be working all weekend long, I am still just happy that I got all of this work behind me. I think if school were like this ever week I probably wouldn't be able to handle it for very long. I had three mid terms exams and two paper due totaling about nine full pages of writing on history and educational psychology. It may seem weird but I am actually happy that I work this weekend because I still have a lot of work to do next week but I think if I had the next two days to just relax and do nothing, I would probably just slow down too much and get behind next week. I cannot afford to do that because finals are looming more and more on the horizon now. I think we have about a month now until classes have ended and I just can't wait for that week off before the summer semester. This week while most of my friends are going out and partying to get away from school, I will be happily locked away in an office building monitoring the fax server. all right, I am a huge dork but I just get tingles when people talk about getting a fax over ip networks. No I am not totally unsocial, but I do prefer to have my mind busy than my body which is why I don't think I have partied more than two or three times in the three years I have been in college so far. I am not a business major either I just really love the technical aspect of the job in the same way I love education psychology. It's just this intricate system of trying to get information from one place to another with as few interceptions or blockages as possible. Whether I will be teaching or rewiring fax networks, I think I have found my passion, and I don;t need to live the "college" lifestyle to be happy with my college experience.

Favorite Celebrity Foods

Friday, April 18, 2008 8:43 PM, Taylor Paige

Oprah Winfrey is a celebrity that has taken us through the ups and downs of diet and nutrition since the beginning of her public career. Despite her issues with dieting, Oprah happily shares her delight with us for good food and frequently features food items on the Oprah's Favorite Things portion of her television program. She is not afraid to fully indulge herself in savoring the aroma and flavor of divinely yummy treats that add flair to her regular daily fare. Personalized food companies such as Celebrity Foods offer home cooked meals that suit Oprah's menu choices perfectly. Luckily for us, Oprah keeps a diary that lets us know just what her regular menu includes. Her normal foods are not exotic, but they are far from boring. Although she maintains around 1,700 calories daily, it is a well-balanced diet that provides about: o 20% protein o 30% fats (rich in healthy fats) o 50% carbohydrates (from whole grains, fruits and vegetables) o 34g fiber o 1,100mg calcium (from plenty of yogurt and calcium-enriched soymilk) She eats mainly fresh, homemade foods and that means there is not a lot of sodium in her diet. For breakfast she likes to eat yogurt, berries and fruit, nuts, oatmeal or good quality sprouted or whole grain bread. For a snack she may choose to have more yogurt or Wasa crispbread with peanut butter and apricot jam. For lunch she likes to have a sandwich prepared from scrumptious organic sprouted bread with smoked turkey, cheese slices and fresh greens or herbs, such as basil. She prefers light mayo or olive oil and keeps away from butter. Fruit is good for an afternoon snack, but she does enjoy chocolate on occasion. Oprah's diet does not totally exclude sugar, but she does keep it to a minimum and Celebrity Foods specializes in low-sugar treats. For dinner, grilled chicken breast or fish with fresh veggies and rice, with homemade fruit sorbet for dessert satisfies her appetite. When Oprah and her guests determine to go "decadent" they go for the gold. Oprah went with Colin Cowie to his favorite place for dessert in New York City - Serendipity 3, for the restaurant's exclusive Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. The recipe has been around for more than 50 years and tantalized the taste buds of the likes of Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe. During an interview on Oprah, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey confessed that they drool over the waffle specials at Roscoe's House of Chicken n Waffles in L.A. Says Jessica, "You always can get good fried chicken, good soul food-Southern food. Food that puts your hips on you! Celebrity Foods can whip up a southern style dinner with organic ingredients that makes every southerner dream of their mama's kitchen. On the other hand Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are in complete agreement with each other that one of their biggest food passions is for tacos. They say the best tacos north of the Mexican border are served at Henry's Tacos in the San Fernando Valley. Mary-Kate brags that "They have the most incredible hard shell tacos I've ever had." The gorgeous, soulful singer, Alicia Keys says one of her favorite eateries on the planet is Warmdaddy's in Philadelphia. Along with the pleasure of great live blues is the mouthwatering soul food, especially the catfish. Celebrity Foods knows how to satisfy everyone's need for comfort food. Comedian, Chris Rock on a more serious note claims that his favorite sandwich in the entire nation is the incredible Shrimp and Bacon Sandwich, made with a scrumptious secret sauce by the Cheesecake Factory. Oprah, herself has a favorite sandwich that is so good, she actually prevented the creator of the recipe from closing the quirky café where it is served. The curried chicken sandwich on homemade white pepper-jack bread is a feature on the menu at the Art Café & Bakery in San Luis Obispo, California. Oprah was first bowled over by the melt-in-your-mouth flavors when it was offered to her by the president of Harpo Productions, Tim Bennett. Margaux Sky, the owner of the café, was about to turn it over to a new owner because the volume of business was becoming more than she could handle. Luckily for Margaux, (and Oprah's taste buds) the queen of television talk shows helped her re-organize the business to make it manageable and it has since continued to flourish.

fax server

Thursday, April 17, 2008 8:36 PM, Taylor Paige

The either day I started my new internship for the business department. So far I think I have been the butt of jokes or something because I have been working for around a month and have not been trained in anything new. I mean how many times came someone honestly explain a fax server before you have to just nod your head and smile. I mean I know I am not a business expert or anything but I do know when I am just the simple intern. I mean I have been working with fax over ip systems since before I was in college. I am really here because I want to learn something new and challenge myself. I don't new technical training or someone telling me to fill their coffee, I need someone showing me the tricks and the ways the game is really played. I don't want to get out in the job world only knowing a couple of aspects the whole thing. That's not what makes a good business man. I think when I go in tomorrow I will have to have a talk with my boss because as you can tell I am pretty passionate about my abilities and sad that they are being squandered. I don't usually like to use this forum as a place to vent frustration but I just don't have anything else on my mind right now. I do still have all of my classes going and assignments due, but when your pride and sense of purpose are hurt I think, at least for me, it crosses all areas of your life and hits you at your core. I just hope that I get some kind of response because the people working there really are nice people but I may have just been too passive in my work day and led them to think that I don't care what I do or learn. Some of the people I work with are amazing business men and women but I think that they don't see any value in reaching out to me when they are already busy enough with their jobs. I just hope that a couple of people are willing to take time out and show me some things.

hong kong inventory

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 12:02 PM, Taylor Paige

Finding product to sell for my business is really a challenge.  I sell electronics components mostly, part time for extra money. My father introduced me to some people he used to do business with, and they set me up with some products I can sell online and wholesale as well. I love sales, I love making the deals, but what a headache finding the parts I need to sell.  I wish the stock would just fall in my lap, sourcing is THE least favorite task I do for my business.  If I had more cash, I know where I can get a good stock trade lead, I would blow this whole business off and just make extra money on the stock market. But I just don?t have enough cash to make it worth my while, so electronic component sourcing is the life for me, for now.

Electronic component sourcing used to be so much easier. The electronic component marketplace is evolving though, mostly because of china manufacturers that are dominating the market. The china supplier that I am doing business does not have as much to offer any more. Ideally I?d like to find a china manufacturer to buy direct from.  I bought a subscription to another supplier directory the other day for leads. I have 4-5 manufacturers that I work with, but I really need more.

The supplier directory has a section for manufacturers, but it is challenging to do business in china. I don?t know who to trust, and the language barrier is a burden. There is one china supplier that seems to be reputable. He has active components and passive components, IC and semiconductors. His parts inventory is extensive. Those would sell very well for me, I have buyers for those type of products consistently.  But his pricing is too high, I typically pay much less than that for a semiconductor. I am sure once I did business with them, I could negotiate better prices. Negotiation is a big part of the electronic component marketplace, even with a China supplier.

The bottom line is that I need to stay motivated, even though this business is part-time, I would be lost without it.

payday loan

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 9:25 PM, Taylor Paige

Today I have some kind of crazy stuff to talk about. I have a friend who just got in to a bit of trouble that was not his fault and now he has got some serious problems because of it. A friend of mine who I will call Jeff is going here for sociology and he also works to pay for school. Jeff has been putting himself through school and doesn;t have any outside financial support so he deals with all of his finances himself. So anyway Jeff got fired from his job about a month ago. He's still looking for a job today but it's the middle of the semester and jobs usually don;t open up until after the semester is over. Jeff also has maxed out on his available school funded loans. With all of the trouble in the credit market and his past, Jeff couldn't take out any independent personal loans to help out. So the only thing that Jeff could think to do was to look for a Payday Loan. Basically they give you payday advance, meaning a cash advance, and with a very high interest rate on them, you pay them back when you get your next check. He got one about a week ago to pay his rent and for his tuition bill. The problem now is is that he still doesn;t have a job and is racking up all of this extra debt. It's certainly no one's fault so there's really no one to blame, but I just feel so bad for the guy because he really is a good person and doesn;t really deserve all of the unneeded stress right now with finals quickly approaching and projects due in most classes I have decided that I am going to help Jeff out The last couple of weeks when I have gone out too the bar I have done some canning, or fundraising the Greek life way. I have raised him a little bit of dough but it's tough to get already broke college students to sympathize and donate money to one of their own when they really just want to drink. I am still going to try again this week and hope that I get enough to really make a dent in his debt I am sure it will all work out for Jeff though because he's a good person and really does work hard, he just got stuck in a bad situation and now he has to work himself out it.

Umbria villas

Sunday, April 13, 2008 7:59 PM, Taylor Paige

Traveling has been one of my favorite past times, since I was a kid. Whenever, I would travel with my parents, I always got such a rush. I love the full service of staying in hotels. I love restaurant food and I even enjoy the flying or driving to get where we are going. I love seeing the different landscapes and the adventure about learning about different cultures. Even here in the US, the cultures in different regions is very diverse. Even the terms that are used to describe things are regional. For instance in the New York, they call a place to buy food a supermarket. Elsewhere, it is typically called a grocery store. Another thing I learned is that in Arkansas, they call all soda Coke. When you order a soft drink in AR you tell them you would like a Coke and they will say what kind of Coke and then you tell them a Dr. Pepper, Sprite, etc. These are just some of the interesting things I have learned in my travels. In any case, now that I am grown, I try to fit in as much traveling as I can around my school schedule. It isn't always easy, but I must do it for my sanity.

Right now I am planning a trip with my mom to Italy. She will be footing the bill for it, thank goodness, but I really want to make a special bonding experience for just the two of us. We have decided to do it over the summer time, when we will both have enough time to make the trip worthwhile. She is letting me make all the reservations for our trip, which I am grateful for, except the fact that if it is not the trip of a lifetime, I will feel guilty for making the wrong choices. I have been looking at Italian villas. I thought it would give us a little break from reality and not make it feel like we were just tourists. There are some really incredible villas like: Umbria Villas, Le Marche villas, and Cinque Terre Apartments. They are all so amazing that I think I am going to book us a week in each one just because they are so different. They each have their own incredible features and to just choose on location would be too difficult. If we do it this way, we will still have an extra week or 2 to play with once we get there. I am really looking forward to this mother daughter adventure. I wouldn't trade my mom for anyone else in the whole world.

With the economy struggling as it is, it is getting harder and harder to make ends meet. The economy's decline is very nicely being called a recession by our government, however, please understand that as a country we have been at war for sometime now. Since 9/11 our economy has been struggling and just now are we really starting to feel the effects across the board of what this war has really cost us. It is really important to fight for freedom both of our country and for others abroad, but at what cost. If we save the Iraqis from starving, but create more starving people in our own country, have we really accomplished anything? I think not.

Now many American's will begin using credit to get by in these tough financial times, and once that credit has been over extended, they will be forced into bill consolidation and possibly even bankruptcy (oh yes, which coincidentally our government has made it more difficult to do in the past 2 years). In any case, what are we to do, when we can't afford to put gas in our cars or food on our tables? Well, I guess if you are a real estate agent it might be a good time to return to school and study debt consolidation. Debt consolidators as I see it will be a very necessary service in the coming years. Since, the end to the war does not seem to be coming anytime soon, I think that our failing economy is only going to get worse before it gets better. For how long, I am afraid is anyone's guess.

All I know is that with so many men returning from the war disabled, or not returning from the war at all, I am sure all those families are going to be in dire financial need also, possible needing help managing their finances or consolidating their bills.

In any case, I am afraid that debt is inevitable for the average person over the next few years. As our government gets deeper and deeper into debt, so it affects all aspects of our day to day life. Please keep in mind, if you are falling behind on your bills you are not alone and there is help out there. Find yourself a bill consolidation company and allow them to help you, before it is too late.

Cufflinks

Friday, April 11, 2008 8:27 PM, Taylor Paige

Next week is my big presentation for the business department and I am super nervous. I am running through every distressing exercise I know in an attempt to just get my heart rate below a thousand beats per minute. I just can't help but be nervous because all of the work I have done for the past three years is really riding on one day. I may be blowing a little bit out of proportion but all of the advisors have said that those who do better on the career day presentations get a much better job after school is over because of the contacts they've made and the impressions they have left. I have been running through my presentation and all of the materials for like three weeks solid and still trying to keep up with all of my other work. The only moment so far that I got a break was when I took a day off from work and went to see a tailor for my new suit. I don't own a suit so that was a big problem that wouldn't get off of my mind until I just had to take a whole day off. I was still pretty nervous while I was there though because I was asked to make all of these little nit picky decisions, like did I want French cuffs. Now I don't know what French cuffs are, but he told me I would need to also choose cufflinks, and I did like that idea. I really got hung up on the cuflinks for the suit, I really did not want something old fashioned, but I did not want to look too trendy. The tailor had a set of vintage solid silver cufflinks and a set of modern cufflinks. I know this seems obsessive, but I played a video in my head of how people would react to each one as it was impressed in to my brain and I eventually settled on the modern ones because I was just so scared of seeming too hip to be business like. I really think I need to take another day off and just try to relax because if this is how I get when I am out there in the job world trying to really get things done, I am going to go totally crazy.

Rome apartments

Friday, April 11, 2008 8:10 PM, Taylor Paige

This week I have launched headlong into my senior project. What I am working on as my final business exercise is to look upon a foreign market and document all the changes over a semester. The last section will be a comparison of the market to that of our own country within the same period. I began this week by doing my research in to which country I will choose. I knew that I wanted to do some country in Europe. I finally chose, sort of arbitrarily, Italy as the country to observe for the summer. The next thing I had to do was to choose the section of their market which I would observe in the greatest detail. I will have to observe all of their large scale economic changes but one market in particular will have to be the main focus as sort of the microcosm of the country at large. Due to the recent changes here within our own rocky housing market, I decided it would be great to document the effects, if any, within their market that may reflect our own situation. That took me about two days to sort out within my notes and my teacher said it would be a great idea. So the rest of the week I have been looking in to as many of the particulars of their housing market as I can. I want to start there first and take the bigger picture ideas from comprehensive writings from their own economists. I have decided that I will look in to four cities in particular within Rome as my focuses for this section of the project. So since then I have spent about five days documenting prices for Rome apartments, Florence apartments, Venice apartments, and Lucca apartments. From these four cities I will get a larger picture of the whole country at large. All four of them are major economic centers for the country so they will reflect the quickest changes if any economic changes effective to the market take place. The next thing I will do next week I think will be to take a look at our own housing market and get a general sense of where it has been, is , and is going in the future. I will then use this information as my basis for the first comparison I make in about a month or so. I am really excited about this project now that I am right in the middle of it . When I hadn;t started yet I was so nervous because it's a huge amount of work and if I even get a little bit behind I will not finish and that will really hurt my grade if I don't finish.

Barack Obama

Thursday, April 10, 2008 9:03 PM, Taylor Paige

Barack Obama a name that I am sure that everyone in the US and possibly in the world knows at this point in time. The continued head to head race between Obama and Clinton is one that remains in the public eye. I am not really sure which candidate would be the best for our country.

On the one hand Clinton seems strong and more politically sound, if only for her connections in the government due to her husband's presidency. At the same point, I definitely worry about him having any say in what she does. He acts as if he is the be all end all, when he just seems to me to be a real dufus. I am not even sure why we ever elected him in the first place, but I really worry about him being a major distraction for her. She is definitely much more of a politician then he is. That quite frankly scares me a little; I mean her being a politician and all. She seems like she is a manipulator that will say or do anything to win this race, including making nasty comments about her opponent. I really hate that kind of stuff. I feel a candidate should talk about themselves and what they are going to do, not throw stones at their opponent, I think that only hurts their credibility.

On the other hand, I do like Barack Obama. He seems like a candidate of the people. I am not really sure if his ethnic background should be figured in to the equation or not. I am not concerned about him being a black man; just do have a few small concerns about the Muslim background. I guess it just scares me a little to think that there is the potential at anytime for us to put a terrorist into the highest position in our country. I guess that could happen no matter who the candidate is, but it would be my guess that the government of the US has already fully investigated his background and determined that he is not a security risk, otherwise there is no way they would let him run. He seems very sincere, and I am a big Oprah fan and am impressed that she is backing him. I don't believe that it is just a race thing like some people are saying, but I believe that Oprah really sees something special in him.

In any case, this will definitely be a presidential primary that will go down in the history books, as the black man vs. the woman. A first in our country's history.

SIP phone

Wednesday, April 09, 2008 5:33 PM, Taylor Paige

I am totally convinced now that procrastination is an integral part of the college experience. It seems to follow a cyclical pattern that all people follow. They begin the semester out really strong, by the midpoint they don't have a problem missing class, and by the end they are freaking out because they have exams and missing notes. I admit it right off that I have been using this system for three years now. This semester I have been sort of all right with my class work, it's my work-study job that I have been putting off. Usually people apply for the semester's job before the semester starts. I decided to wait and not overwhelm myself all at once. Looking back, that may have been the wrong decision. Instead of not overwhelming myself all at the beginning of the semester, I waited until the end and now I am scrambling to not miss any of my funding. I have been trying my best to fit as many hours in to my schedule as possible and still keep my other job running so I can keep it over the summer. It would be one thing if I were doing something uninteresting and not fun, but the job I got is actually pretty cool. I would for the student office of judicial affairs running their business phone systems. I have been trying to learn their SIP phone system which is relatively simple and is kind of fun to play around with when I have some down time on the job. At the office they use conference calls in stead of meeting to streamline the work and save money lost on travel time across campus. I don't think I want to ever go in to office type work for a living if I can, but I definitely like the experience I am having with it so far. The best part are the people. I mean they totally understand where I am coming from and are trying their best to get all of my hours in, but sometimes there just isn't any work for me to do. So I think my lesson here isn't to not procrastinate, but to not expect the stressful job situation to not be at least a little bit fun.

Modeling

Friday, April 04, 2008 3:39 PM, Taylor Paige

I have attended many modeling schools, however, I really didn't get much out of any of them. I guess I thought that they would help me land a few modeling jobs or something. I just found that I didn't get too much out of the experiences. I think that maybe I picked the wrong schools or something. They make a lot of promises, but sadly they failed to deliver much more than some good advice, posture, makeup and hair, and a portfolio.

After all was said and done, I had to find a modeling agency to help me get the auditions and with casting that have helped me further my career. I was introduced to casting directors who just really loved me. I am not sure why, but he said my look was different and fresh. I am not a blonde, and had actually at one time considered becoming one to get some jobs in the past. I had been to a few open casting calls and it always seemed that they were looking for the typical blonde models.

Well, keeping my hair color (with of course some added highlights and low lights for effect) seems to have finally paid off. I have been on several photo shoots with this guy and have worked with a few of the top models. I have been to London and to LA and have done some real modeling now. I can finally get paid for a job that I love and it is great. I really never thought that it would happen for me. Sure, I have always been told how attractive I was, but I was always afraid that I didn't have that special something that the agencies were looking for. It has taken me since I was 13 to finally get my dream job, and be able to travel to all the exotic places in the world, on someone else's dime. It is really mind blowing!

Just a quick message to people all over the world - Don't ever give up on your dreams! It may take time and a lot of hard work and knocks, but eventually you can live a life that makes you smile just to open your eyes every morning. You can get paid for doing something you love, it just takes a drive to succeed and a never give up attitude!

Baseball cards

Friday, April 04, 2008 10:56 AM, Taylor Paige

I can't believe how many people are selling sports memorabilia online. There are baseball cards, football cards and hockey cards. There are also team jerseys, baseball caps, and all kinds of signed sports equipment. It is amazing how much money some of this stuff is going for. I saw a sports auction that was selling rare trading cards, and they were taking over $1,000 on that auction alone. It is amazing.

I often wonder if it is individuals selling online or if more large companies are doing it. Even on Ebay, everyone has a company name and sounds like a real business, but are they really? I have a friend who sells on Ebay and does it from her apartment. She collects all kinds of stuff from knickknacks to pictures, and things that she likes to call antiques, but I just call most of it junk. She says that she has a good eye for stuff that will take good money on Ebay. I personally don't see it, but she has shown me some of the prices that she has taken on some of her stuff, and then when she tells me how much she bought it for, I am shocked. She once had this vase that she got at a yard sale and paid a dollar for and when she sold it online she sold it for $282.00. This thing wasn't not attractive looking at all, but she said that the signature on the bottom indicated that it was really worth a lot. She claims that a lot of people don't realize the value of stuff when they have a yard sale or estate sale, so they just put it up cheaply at get rid of it prices. She said if they would take the time to find out how much there stuff is worth, they might make a killing, especially if it is old stuff.

I would love to sell on Ebay, but I know that I don't have the knack for recognizing valuable antiques like my friend does. I am not sure what will sell for good money, and how to choose an item that I would be good at selling. I know I would have to sell something small and easy to get. First of all, I don't have a huge amount of storage at my place, and secondly, I can't go to all the local yard sales and estate sales, I just don't have that kind of patience. I think I will ask her what she thinks would be a good item for me, since she is the one with all the selling experience.

Disco Party Supplies

Thursday, April 03, 2008 11:32 PM, Taylor Paige

We are planning an end of the year mixer for our sorority and I need to come up with a really outrageous party idea.  I need it to be fun and themed.  Something that we can pull off on a small budget.  We had a brainstorming session and talked about many different party ideas that might be fun.  Some people said Pimps and Ho’s, cops and robbers (where you are handcuffed to your partner all night) or a white trash bash.  I didn’t really think that any of these ideas were what we were looking for.  Then there were a couple of ideas that really sounded fun.  I liked the idea of a graffiti party, where everyone brings markers and wears white t-shirts and they draw on each other.  Our last mixer was a kegs and eggs pajama party, where everyone comes at night and parties till breakfast in their pjs.  It was great fun.  I guess as the Social Chair I will have to make a decision on what will be the most fun.  One person did suggest a 70’s Disco Party, and that was probably the one that I liked the best.  I grew up listening to my mother’s disco blasting through the house, and I love that music now.  I think it would be a real blast if we had everyone dress out 70’s style and I know that I could get some disco party supplies sent to me by mom.  She still has all her old clothes too, and could probably send me some stuff to get me started on my costume.

It would be a lot of fun to get a disco ball and some flashing lights and stuff.  Everything 70’s was very glittery and shiny, so I think that it probably wouldn’t be too hard to pull it off for a reasonable price.  Instead of handing out invitations, we could get some old 8 track tapes and print up label invitations on the computer for them, giving all the info.  Since, it is a sorority party; we won’t actually have to mail them so postage won’t be a problem.  And I have shopped at a few yard sales and I know you can get those things dirt cheap.

I think that the disco theme party is going to be a great way to end this semester.  I can’t wait to tell the girls all about it and see what kinds of great ideas we can come up with for décor and food.

corporate wellness

Wednesday, April 02, 2008 12:58 AM, Taylor Paige

As American workers rely more and more on the fast food drive-through for quick meal substitutes, wellness takes a backseat to poor nutrition and terrible lifestyle choices, which results in expanding waistlines and rising health claims.  Companies large and small are struggling to pay skyrocketing health-insurance premiums while staying competitive in a global economy.  Faced with the terrible choice between slashing benefits or continuously increasing employee health insurance premiums, forward thinking companies are taking a different path and implementing company wellness programs as a means of improving their employees’ health and saving money.

It’s really no secret that your employees are the key to the overall health of your company.  In many cases your employees struggle with issues such as obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, as well of other ailments.  Wellness programs can attack these problems at work with information – a key component to the success of any program – as well as suggestions for lifestyle modifications.  Here’s an example of how a company wellness program could be implemented – and why it can work for your company.

If you offer your employees the opportunity to receive health screenings such as for diabetes and high blood pressure, many will avail themselves of the opportunity because they can tell just by looking in the mirror or walking out to their mailbox that they need to do something to proactively change their health.  Unfortunately, your employees are like most people, so they will put off until tomorrow anything they consider unpleasant or requires an investment of time.  By holding health screenings in the workplace you make it as easy as possible for your employees to be screened for health problems and receive information at the same time.  Because information can be a key catalyst in prompting your employees to take action, it’s a vital first step.

As your employees see some of their co-workers taking part in the screenings, they tend to follow the “herd mentality” – a useful psychological tactic that says that groups tend to do what they see others doing, especially if it is seen as a positive character trait – and by extension will tend to make the suggested behavioral modifications, if only on a trial basis.  By providing a healthy framework upon which to build healthier lifestyles, your employees can participate in smoking cessation programs, exercise programs, as well as a multitude of others centered around wellness.

Your employees are the lifeblood of your business.  By promoting the kinds of healthy choices that come about as a result of corporate wellness programs, your employees will make better choices, their health will benefit, and you can reap the rewards through increased productivity, fewer sick days, and reduced health claims.  Their newfound wellness will put a spring in your step, too, because you can see reduced healthcare costs.

And that extra spring in your step might prompt you to make healthier choices as well.

Lazer epilasyon

Lazer Yöntemiyle Epilasyon Nas?l Gerçekle?ir?

?stenmeyen tüylerin lazer ile yok edilmesi yönteminde temel prensip; k?l ve k?l kökünde bulunan, k?la rengini veren melanin pigmenti ile ?????n etkile?imidir. Melanin, üzerine dü?en lazer ???n?n? absorbe eder. Absorbe olan ???n, ?s? enerjisine dönü?erek k?l kökünü tahrip eder.

Kal?c? epilasyon yöntemi için lazer ???n?n?n cildin derinliklerine nüfuz ederek k?l köküne ula?mas? ve ?s? enerjisine dönü?erek köke hasar vermesi gerekir. K?l kökleri, vücudun çe?itli yerlerinde de?i?mekle birlikte yüzeyin 2-5 mm alt?ndad?r. Epilasyon amaçl? geli?tirilen cihazlarda, ???n?n -dalga boyu- cilt alt?nda ula?t??? mesafenin bu s?n?rlar içinde olmas? gerekmektedir.

Lazer epilasyon kimlere uygulanabilir?

Epilazyum di?er sistemlerin yan?nda son teknoloji FDA onayl? ALEXANDR?TE apogee 5500 lazer epilasyon sistemide kullan?laktad?r; ?nsan sa?l???na zarar? olmayan güvenilir ve etkili lazer epilasyon sistemi(alexandrite laser)oldu?u FDA taraf?ndan belgelenmi?tir.

* Alexandrite apogee 5500 so?utma sistemli oldu?u için h?zl?, ac?s?z ve konforlu epilasyon sa?lar. Tene deymeden çal???ld??? için hijyen aç?s?ndan problem ya?amazs?n?z.

Lazer epilasyon Uygulamas?n?n Yan Etkileri Var M?d?r?

Lazer epilasyon Uygulamas? Her Mevsim Yap?l?r M??

???nlar?n?n bronzla?maya sebebiyet vermedi?i aylarda yapt?rmak sonuç almak ac?s?ndan daha uygun olacakt?r. Yaz?nda lazer epilasyon yapt?rmak sorun olmayabilir fakat güne?te kal?nmamal? ve lazer epilasyon yap?ld?ktan sonra güne?te kal?nmamal?d?r.

Lazer epilasyon nerelerde yapt?r?labilir?

Florida Driving School

Wednesday, April 02, 2008 12:37 AM, Taylor Paige

I loved going to school in the north of the country. The weather and the scenery are my favorite parts. I am a huge fan of snowstorms. Where I come from in south Florida, there was never a single snowstorm. We got plenty if hurricanes and tornado warnings, but never a snowstorm that I can remember. Also, here there mountains and tons of good places to go rock climbing and trail hiking around where I go to school. I could just talk forever about why I have loved living here for these last two years.

I mover here from lower Florida in the Miami area. I graduated high school and went right in to the work force at the local Florida DMV. I was employed in the Florida Traffic school so I got to be one of the evaluators and watch people parallel park. Running the Florida driving testlooks really great on a resume for me I guess because about year later I got a job working for a law firm across town. I had always thought about going to law school and becoming a civil defense attorney or something. My job was basically to push paper and make sure every item they wrote was proofread before it went in to the courtroom. It was a pretty important job and I learned not to screw up pretty fast because the mistakes I made could ruin someone else's case.

I decided to go to school when I had finished my first year there and spent two years at the local college. I started wanting a change of scenery and so I moved up north where I just finished out my degree. Now I have moved back down here to Florida and I am ready to get to work. My first job is with the Florida Online Traffic school; imagine that. My first assignment is to put the entire Florida drivers handbook online for the people applying for the Florida learners permit. The part about this whole circle of careers and living spaces I have chosen, is that I didn't have a car when I moved to college up north. So when I moved back down here, the first thing I did, was apply for my new Florida Drivers license.

Weight Loss

Wednesday, April 02, 2008 12:17 AM, Taylor Paige

About 2 years ago, I lost 40 lbs. Quite an achievement, and I still every day feel proud of it. I have had to work hard to keep the weight off, fluctuating 5-8 lbs over the past couple years. Not bad, but don't let anyone kid you: Weight loss is rarely easy, it takes a conscious effort. I used to kid myself that some people were just naturally thin or healthy, and that I liked food more than the average person. I read the book Flip The Switch and I learned that those are myths, lies we tell ourselves to excuse our unhealthy body or lifestyle. I'd like to share some tips that work for me in losing or maintaining my weight.

Portion control is my first tip. We just need LESS food than we think. After 3-4 days with smaller portions, I found I got full on less food.  When eating out, I cut my meal in half before I start eating and put the rest in a togo box, restaurant portions in the US are ridiculous.

Healthy choices, lower fat, lower carbs, more protein.  I don't eliminate fat or carbs altogether, I just pay attention and monitor it. I used to think beef was to be avoided, but actually by focusing on free range animals, red meat and weight loss can go hand in hand.

Splurge weekly: I found my body could handle one splurge a week, two if I was maintaining. This could be dessert or a heavy meal like Indian food that I love.  I had a friend years ago that I would make fun of for the big deal she'd make when she decided to "have a cookie". I thought, "what a control freak! Let it all hang out."  But she was healthy, and I wish I knew then what I know now. I have completely become her, treating even a low fat icecream as a treat to myself.

EXERCISE. Ugh. I used to hate it. But I joined a gym, I joined Curves which has a simple circuit that I can do in 30 minutes. Walking or cardio is not enough, it MUST be muscle building exercise.

Basically I have embraced the lifestyle, so I now do not see it as suffering or punishment to do without the bad foods. This is how healthy people live and eat, there is no other option if you want to take care of your body.

Left Hand Drive Cars

A mailman has a pretty cool job. I am not talking about the men and women who walk around to deliver mail. That is a challenging job because of weather conditions. I would hate to have to travel by foot in the rain and snow. And, then, you have to take into account that for at least half of the year it is either really, really cold outside or it is unbearably hot. This job would get old very quickly. Instead, I am focusing more on the people who get to drive mail trucks in the United States. To begin with, let me state the obvious. These people have air conditioning and get to drive between houses and mailboxes rather than walk. Clearly, they do not get the same exercise, but they stay dry and comfortable. However, there is something else that makes the driving mailman have a unique job. His or her job presents something distinctive that many people probably overlook and do not even recognize as rare. These people working for the U.S. Postal Service get to steer their mail trucks from the right hand side. Unlike people in some countries overseas who drive on opposite sides of the road than in America, the mailmen here in this country still drive on the correct sides of the street. I would assume it is difficult and strange at first to drive a mail truck all day and then to go home and drive your used left hand drive that is parked outside the front of your house. It would not surprise me that a mailman driving occasionally is not thinking and gets in the wrong side of his or her personal left hand drive car. After a long day, driving a vehicle from the right side, it only seems plausible to get confused once in a while. There probably is training that a mailman has to attend before receiving his or her certification. It makes perfect sense that it would present a set of challenges to continuously interchange between the mail truck and the used lhd at home. It becomes habit to drive a certain way because people become accustomed to what they are exposed to with the greatest frequency.

Six Sigma

Tuesday, April 01, 2008 11:10 PM, Taylor Paige

When my three friends and I get together every week to play golf, we inevitably start talking about work. It always seems to be the case. There is nothing like working a full-time job and trying to complete graduate school for your master’s degree at the same time. We each work in the same building, but for different companies ironically. Anyway, the topic of choice for today’s back nine concerned some courses one of the guys has to take for work. His company is trying to maximize their profits by implementing six sigma. He describes this as a process which uses statistical analysis to evaluate the workings of the company and if there are areas that can be eliminated or adjusted to improve results. As a manager in the accounting department, he has to enroll in several courses and participate in six sigma online. After meeting an hour requirement and completing a project using this process, he can obtain certification on the topic. In order to accomplish courses to the level his company requires him as management, my friend will spend a substantial amount attending seminars and workshops. He must learn the principles behind this process and how to properly implement it into the daily functions of his company. In the business world, someone who obtains a high level of certification is classified as a six sigma black belt. Other people in the company, more specifically those who are not in a managerial position, will only be required to advance far enough to receive certification as a six sigma green belt. This way everyone in the company will understand the process and be able to use it to help the company. Apparently, this process works best when the entire company is onboard. The theory is once every employee knows how to use the process it can be implemented into every aspect of the company quickly and proficiently. There are a lot of resources in a company, but the employees must know how to use it properly to render successful results. Hopefully, for my friend’s sake, he can learn enough about this process to use it in evaluating his golf game and eliminate a few strokes. It would save us all a lot of time searching for his ball is the tall grass.

Search engine marketing

Tuesday, April 01, 2008 1:44 PM, Taylor Paige

I just got off the phone with my mom and she just got done telling me all about my brother's new job. She told me that he was working for an seo company and went on and on about what a great opportunity this was for him. I asked several times what she meant by a SEO company, and she told me it was something having to do with computers, but she really didn't know exactly what it all meant. She kept going on and on, even without knowing what she was talking about. After about a half and hour of it, I told her I really had to go and got off the phone. I still had this nagging question as to what a SEO company was. I knew a little bit about computers, but had never heard this term before. Needless to say I had to call my brother and get the scoop.

When he answered the phone, we exchanged niceties and then I had told him that I had just gotten off the phone with Mom and she had told me that he had gotten a new job. I congratulated him and went on to ask about this thing called a SEO company. He told me that basically SEO stands for search engine optimization. It has to do with Ecommerce and websites, so it is a form of marketing for websites to get traffic to your site. Search engine marketing is done by either buying ads in search results, called Pay Per Click, or by making changes to your site, getting links in to your site, adding content to your site to come up higher in natural search results. He said they especially work with the 3 major ones Google, MSN, and Yahoo. The keywords can be very competitive. So those paid advertisements you see on the side of Google, whenever you click that, the company is paying, maybe $.50, maybe $6, maybe more. For optimizing a website, he said it is not an overnight result, but one that takes a little time to build. He says that gradually his clients get more traffic and more business. I said I really didn't know that there were services out there that did that for you. I always just thought that everyone put up there websites and that all sites could work there way to the top of the search results eventually. He did confirm that it was not very likely, since all the larger companies already pay SEO companies to market for them. I found the whole thing to be very interesting.

Well, you learn something new everyday. Keep it in mind if you want to increase traffic to your website SEO might something to look into.

Health insurance

Individual health insurance can be very costly. It seems to me that when you work for a big company, that everyone pays the same rate. The insurance costs are reasonable, and the coverage is phenomenal. But recently, I have had to buy affordable health insurance for myself and this is quite the costly venture. I have really shopped around, and as a individual, I am finding that there are a lot more preexisting issues than there were when I was covered by my company's plan.

I have been really looking at all the options and am finding that the only way I can really afford the insurance premiums on an individual health insurance plan is to settle for questionable coverage just to get a cheap rate. I know how important carrying health insurance can be, and right now thank goodness, I don't have any major health issues. One never really knows when they could be diagnosed with some horrible illness, and I really don't want to take a chance and just get catastrophic plan. I know it will cover me if I am hospitalized for a month, but what if I just get a short term illness? Then what.

I am not sure how I can afford to cover these premiums on my own. I also don't want to sign up for an insurance policy that will 6 months from now be charging me double the premiums. I want something where the rates will stay the same. I don't want to have to file the claims myself. This means I will most likely have to lay out the payment at the time of service and I am not sure that I will be able to do this. Also, I will be less likely to go to the doctor if I have to pay up front and wait 8 weeks to get reimbursed by the insurance company.

If you have the opportunity to stay with the large company insurance, then be sure to do it. If you are like me, and have not been able to that, then you will have to begin researching the information on your own. You will find there are a wealth of informational online sources that can help you find the right insurance for you. It is possible to find a good insurance plan that is reasonable, but it will definitely take some work.
