Animals in the Everglades

Alligators.

Turtles.

Anhinga holding his wings out to dry.

Green heron.

Turtle eggs?

The following four pictures show some baby alligators discovering a water moccasin:

At first the baby gator (left) doesn't notice the snake by the sunning himself by the rock

Then he suddenly notices, becomes curious, and slowly starts swimming closer.

When his brother starts to follow, he gets more bold, and the snake turns to watch.

When the gators get a too close, the snake turns and slithers away.

           Rabbit.

     Raccoon.

        2 Osprey.

    Vultures.

And best of all . . . a crocodile.

These are pretty rare, (much more rare than alligators) the only ones in America are found in the Everglades, and as you can see, they are pretty hard to spot.  This picture is taken in the Bay, from our canoe.  Mom didn't even squirm as we inched in slowly to get a good shot.  He was maybe 8 or 9 feet long.
