Hike with Jared and Debbie summer of 2001.
Cliffs as seen from the beginning of the trail.
Jared and I hiking along the trail.
Kolob Arch. One of the largest in the world.
Debbie hiding in a small cave at the mouth of Beartrap canyon.
Squirrel begging for some lunch at the mouth of Beartrap canyon.
Me wading into Beartrap Canyon with my flip-flops in my hand. The stream
was only ankle deep until about 3/4 way up the canyon, where there had
been a landslide which dammed up the stream to about chest deep in parts.
The water was so murky we couldn't see the bottom, and was freezing cold,
but we decided to wade up the canyon hoping to reach the waterfall anyway.
Debbie wading into Beartrap Canyon towards the waterfall.
Debbie looking up at the waterfall.
Jared (middle) sitting in a large wedge shaped area. It was huge, maybe
30 feet high and 100 feet long, as if someone cut it horizontally into
the rock wall with a giant ax. It overlooks the creek and trail.
Jared and I, just standing there. I don't know what we are doing exactly...
maybe trying act innocent in order to lure Debbie over so we can throw
rocks in the creek and splash her? It always seemed to work pretty well.
Man imitates nature.
