Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your EYES...

Welcome to my new and improved webpage.  I wish I could take credit for the amazing design of this page, but unfortunately, it is the result of someone else's genius.

A lot has changed since I embarked on creating my first homepage way back in 1997.  I may only be 23 years old, considered young by many, but I feel old in terms of webpage technology.  Back in 1997, web design was all about manipulating HTML.  I would spend hours (and I mean hours!) altering bits of code, saving said code, uploading the code into my page, checking to see how the code looked, re-editing the code, and so on.  The entire process was extremely labor intensive and oftentimes highly frustrating.

Now, however, after having just been introduced to CSS this afternoon, I am stunned by how simple web design has become.  That is not to say that I find web design entirely simple--fabulous web design still relies greatly on the eye and talent of the graphic designer, but now mere CODING is so simple.  Not only can the designer use CSS to code all of their fonts, colors, and text, but they have tools like Dreamweaver and NVU at their disposal which essentially allows the designer to build an amazing piece of graphic design in Photoshop and then take that design and break it down into little pieces in Dreamweaver which then codes all the pieces into a language understood by the Internet.

I am amazed by the ease with which websites (this one included) can be created today.  I can't say I'm disappointed but I do find myself a little nostalgic over the toil and dedication that web design once required.

Farewell days of the old.  Hello new world order.
