Some more on Web Design
- The CSS Zen Garden This site presents a multitude of examples of a single "page" being presented with multiple different designs. In each example, the content is fundamentally the same, but the form shifts. Do not be intimidated by the site's discussions of CSS; you do not need to know any of this yet.
Design and the Familiar
- Ctrl+Alt+Del Frequently, web designs that we find "intuitive" seem that way because they are designs that we have seen before. As we discussed in class, we know (in general) what to expect when we encounter a news site, a search engine or a personal blog. While not about page design, I find this comic loosely relevant to our discussion. In this webcomic strip, characters react to the visuals and workings of unfamiliar operating systems.
