My
name is Hung Kwan Wong. I was born and raised in Hong
Kong, as widely known, a former British colony in Asia. Hong Kong
is a very small city, mainly composed of three parts: Hong Kong island,
Kowloon and New Territory. However, this little place has a lot of fun
and exicting things, many world records can be found there, the recent
one is SARS infected rate! My family consists of a younger brother and
a younger sister, Fai and Ping, my parents, my grandmother and my lovely
dog, Bobby, a very mean Yorkshire Terrier. |
I
finished my high shcool education in Aberdeen Baptist College in 1986.
I continued my undergraduate education in
National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan in 1988. After graduating
BA from the University in 1993, I came back to Hong Kong to work as a
marketing officer in a local well-known watch retailer called
Kowloon Watch. My main duty was to perform some regular marketing
functions and helped the company to launch retail sales outlets in mainland
China. I was responsible for several projects which aimed at expanding
sales outlets inside various department stores) from Shanghai to Xiamen.

After
working a couple of years, I felt a need of change. A thought of continuing
education had burgeoned in my mind. I can not help but say life is unpredictable.
You can never imagine what the next move will be. I got an approval from
the US Immigration and Naturalization Services Department (INS) for my
immigration application to the US some years ago. I was shocked by the
letter since I completely forgot I had sent this letter simply for testing
my luck. After a brief time of consideration, I decided to accept the
offer, and start my new life here in the United States. I first enrolled
in the Dicison
Information and Science Department's M.S. program in University
of Florida in 2001 after passing the GRE examination. |
First
arrived in Florida, the very green landscape here really impressed a city
dweller like me. Everything is green, everything is fresh. Everyone is
nice. University of Florida is such a huge campus. But this is not always
a good thing to the students, need to walk a long way from one place to
another and lack of parking space is annoying. Paying fifty dollars for
a decal for every semester can not guarantee you can enjoy what you have
paid for. Believe it or not, some students need to get out at 6:00 am
in the morning to scramble for a precious parking place. However, both
Florida and UF are gorgeous for living and studying. |
