For this assignment I decided to make a miniature YTMND page.
I know it doesn't make a lot of sense, but thats's how a lot of pages on YTMND.com are. YTMND.com is one of the many online communites with a dedicated group of users that love to create what is known as "original content." Although it is refered to as original content, many of these submissions are adaptations of pre-existing popular culture, or "memes." That is why for this assignment I thought it would be fitting to create my own YTMND page. Unlike most YTMND pages, my page lacks an inside joke or punchline. Perhaps if Puck were to become a meme this page would be recognizable, but for now I think it does a good job of showing how adaptations can cross all forms of media.
The purpose of this page was to adapt the character Puck into a meme format. A "meme" is a unifying cultural idea, used especially to describe the inside jokes that many online communities develop. Puck has been adpated to plays, cartoons, and other forms of media as a mischevious prankster. In my opion, he could easily be adapted into a meme. I could definitely see an online community adopting Puck as a mascot for their online mischief. My YTMND.com page was an attempt to show what a potential Puck meme might look like.
