Resources for Web Workers

How do you get started in Web design? Which software should you learn? Which sites offer the best information? Out of the hundreds of books available, which ones are really useful? Should you learn HTML? What is CSS, and how should you use it?

I need to stay on top of current Web standards and tools as part of my job. The purpose of this site is to serve as a place where I can share what I know. I post links to the most helpful Web sites I find and update them once or twice each year. I first published this site in 1999.

The information on this site is intended for students in my online journalism courses at the University of Florida, but anyone is welcome to learn from it. This site carries no advertising. No strings attached.
