As the Historian, you are the expert on historical events as they relate to The Shadow of the Wind. Your specialization ranges from the Spanish Civil War, or even earlier, to the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and on into today. You will build your knowledge of Spanish history and important events (with more emphasis on Barcelona) through research of the following materials. Other resources may be used as well, from the library, etc. They do not all have to be Internet sources; however, you must have at least six sources total. As you research, think about the affects of these historical events on the people and culture of Spain. Although these events are pieces of Spanish history, remember that similar situations have occured and continue to occur all over the world as well as the United States. Does it seem that novels and literature serve as a sort of documentation of events, even in their sometimes fictional state? What do you think about the idea that literature might serve as a bridge between the past and the present, a reminder to readers not to make the same mistakes once made in the past, or to remember and be proud of the accomplishments? Feel free to include your opinion in your project. Once your research is completed, you must use your creativity to design a display for the classroom detailing your findings; for example, an illustrated timeline banner, a poster with photographs and descriptions, or a slide show with visual aids and summaries.
