Censorship

As the Literary Authority, you are the one to come to for information on novels and the history of literature. You are an expert on censorship and the history of literary opression as it has changed from book burning to book banning in school libraries (or has it changed?). You will build your knowledge concerning censorship and the relation of books to historical and cultural factors through research of the following materials. Other resources may be used as well, from the library, etc. They do not all have to be Internet sources; however, you must have at least six sources total. As you research, remember how the destruction of books affected Daniel in The Shadow of the Wind, and consider how book banning and destruction today affect your education and personal growth. How do you feel about this issue? Please include your opinion in your presentation, supported by your research. Once your research is completed, you must use your creativity to design a display for the classroom detailing your findings; for example, a magazine article with illustrations and various events, a slide show with visual aids and summaries, or an illustrated pamphlet/brochure filled with interesting information that might sway readers one way or the other. Use your imagination, and if you get stuck for ideas or materials, please contact me!
