So it appears that I have been shirking my self-imposed duty to update this meager webpage lately. Hey, what’s new, right? Well, let me start by posting a picture of the new casa de Mathis.

Mary and I moved last December into the Mandarin area on the south side of Jacksonville. Our house is far too big for us now, but we’ll grow into it. The past six months or so have been prime for prospective home buyers (us), so going a little big doesn’t seem like much of a stretch. The neighborhood is still being built out and the main drag that we live off of is being expanded, so the immediate area we are in will be growing for years to come. This is of course good news to yours truly, since it means the land value will only go up and up.

Last weekend saw the Florida Association of Mu Alpha Theta convention held in Orlando. My alma mater, Lincoln finished 5th in sweepstakes, which is to be commended. This year I wrote the Theta (i.e. Algebra II) Applications test. Yes, for love or money I am still writing these math tests. This test in particular had no disputes accepted, which is a fancy way of saying “wa-hoo, I didn’t screw up.” Honestly though, writing a clean test is much, much, much easier said than done.

The Braves are back to winning this year. That’s good to see. I hate it when people compare the Braves winning tendencies to the Yankees. But I have to admit that I am a spoiled Braves fan. And much like my northern counterparts, I too expect the Braves to be in contention most every year. The only difference being that the Braves actually play baseball, unlike the Yankees, who don’t let their pitcher bat. But that’s whole other rant for whole other time.

Thanks for checking in on the Nook! Ta ta for now!

Back from vacationing on the Carnival cruise ship Elation. Mary and I had a great time and met some cool people. Notable highlights include lounging on the beach at the private island, playing with the casino’s money, touring one of the largest salt water aquariums in the world. Pictures have been uploaded to Ophoto.com. Email me if you want the link.

Right now it’s all about easing back into the normal routine. Mary starts her new job at Baptist tomorrow morning, which is exciting. I’ll just be interested to find out what all happened at my job over the past week.

By the way, UF hoops has now won SIX (6) straight over Kentucky. Dad: I know you must be getting tired of that bright orange shirt by now, eh? GO GATORS!!!
