The Dominican Republic prides itself in the diverse collection of activities she has to offer to visitors. - National Parks: The Dominican Republic's national parks set it apart from other tourist spots. One of the first European forts built in the Americas, Fort San Felipe, is in Puerto Plata. So, leave your resort and rediscover history.
- Shopping: The Dominican Republic can take you on a wild hunt for its unique treasures. Visit shops and buy some Dominican amber, which is considered to be the most valuable of all amber. And don't forget to take home some rum, larimar and cigars!
- Saona Island: According to tripadvisor, this is one site you can't leave the country without seeing! Journey to the island through the DR's rural roads, and scuba dive in its clear waters. Your friends will definitely envy this adventure!
- Culture: There is almost always a celebration or festival in the Dominican Republic. Get a real taste of Dominican culture, by joining in the dance and parades. Visiting in February? Cabarete AlegrÃa might be for you! The event is filled with kite-flying, sand castle building and races! Carnaval, which is fulled with parades of costumed dancers, is also celebrated during the final days of February. And if you're visiting in the summer, don't forget to attend the Merengue Festival!
- Water Sports: For those of you looking for adventure, the Dominican Republic offers a lot of water fun. Explore the clear waters of the island while you snorkel or dive in one of the country's many reefs. If you want to experience something more exhiliarting, take up wind surfing, kite boarding or surfing.
- Golf: With 21 beautiful golf courses, the Dominican Republic has become one of the hottest golfing spots in the world. Each course provides affordable rentals and a unique experience.
