Solution to the Facility Focus Problem (resolution found on 2004-06-08) There are two problems that this document will be dealing with, one is in the file AEC.ini and the other has to do with ODBC connections in windows. Both of these must be correct in order for it to work. In my experience if the ODBC connection is not working right, there will be a timeout error after ~50seconds. If the AEC.ini file is incorrect you could possibly recieve the timeout error or a "Login Failed" error. Problem one: AEC.ini There are four entries that I consistently changed on every machine and one other that I needed to change on a few machines. In the [sqlca] section at the top: 1) database=Prod 2) servername=AAVP16.admin.ufl.edu In the [crystal reports] 3) servername=aavp16.admin.ufl.edu 4) database=Prod The intermittent item was in the [sqlca] section at the top. I only had to change this item if it was different from the string that is listed in Patricia Booth's config (AEC.ini) file. I dont know why, but it seems like everyone has the same password. *5) logpass=ð°°¤·¿?µ ¯¤¦¬¬ Problem two: ODBC connection to the aavp61.admin.ufl.edu machine. This one is a little wierded and you will just have to trust me that this works, I do not know why yet. You have to follow the instructions exactly or else Facility Focus will probably just time out again. 1) Click Start 2) Click control Panel 3) (If you are not in "Classic Mode" then put it in classic mode by clicking on the top "Classic Mode" 4) Double-Click the "Administrative Tools" icon 5) Double-Click the "Data Sources (ODBC)" icon 6) Click the "System DSN" tab at the top. 7) Click the "Add" button on the right. 8) Scroll all the way to the bottom of this list and select the "SQL Server" option 9) Click "Finish" 10) In the "Name:" field type "Facility Focus ODBC" 11) In the "Description:" field type "Facility Focus" 12) In the Server field type "aavp61.admin.ufl.edu" 13) Click the "Next>" button. 14) Click the radio button labeled "With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user" 15) Click the client configuration button. 16) Click "OK" 17) Click "Next>" (You will get an error message, click "OK" on that error message) 18) Click "Cancel" 19) Click "Ok
