For the past two years, Ive
been preparing for this moment. Ive spent entire days and nights
in various labs and studios on campus optimizing my craft and investigating
solutions to countless conceptual challenges. The moment has come
now; I hope that you are pleased with the fruits of my labor.
I grew up on a healthy diet of Bruce Lee movies, 80s cartoons,
and Nintendo games, so the media is deeply ingrained into my lifestyle.
I draw influences from these childhood media experiences, as one might
guess after viewing my work. In high school I took numerous tech classes,
however I took absolutely no art classes. I chose the art half of
DAS because I lacked any real art experience before my college career,
and I felt that I was computer savvy enough to hold my own. My true
weakness ironically, is programming. I couldnt program my way
out of a paper bag.
One of the things that I take a great deal of pleasure in art is working
with others together and seeing the end results of the partnership.
I feel that this is an opportunity unique to the Digital Worlds Institute
in that the collaboration consists of people with backgrounds that
are so contrasting, the end result is almost guaranteed to be something
that you could not have accomplished on your own. Also, I enjoy taking
an active part in my work. Literally. I mean, just look at my portfolio,
Im all over it. Recently, Ive developed a taste for performance
art. I always enjoyed doing things in front of large audiences. Performance
art grants you the largest audience of them all, the public
Although Im not 100% sure which direction Im heading in,
I know for a fact that I would like to get into the movie and/or console
gaming industries. Ive pursued a minor in film to gain more
stable footing when I take my shot at breaking into the industry.
In any case, I have confidence that the DAS education will play a
major role in my decision. Im excited about the direction that
the Digital Worlds Institute looks to be heading in and Im ready
for the upgrade.
