The Basics

Steps for the perfect egg in a hole:

1. In order to make a good egg in a hole start with some good fluffy bread.
2. Next, grab a glass with a diameter between 2 and 2 and a half inches. This will make your whole.
3. Heat a pan to medium high heat and melt about a tablespoon of butter.
4. Put the bread in the pan and let cook on each side for about 30 seconds - just enough to give it a golden color.
5. Crack the egg into that hole and let cook for 3 minutes. Once the egg is cooked enough it will be opaque at the bottom so that you can’t see through to the pan. Now flip it over gently and cook for 2 minutes more.
Note: If you like your eggs sunny side up let it cook on one side for about 5 minutes - covering it with a lid for the last 2 minutes and serve. If you haven’t already impulsively eaten the hole of bread you took out like I do, you can throw that in the pan with it for an extra piece of toast to dip in the yolk.
Now you have an egg in a hole!
