The Houston Texans' first year in the NFL was in 2002. The franchise nickname was part of a local contest. The team narrowed down thousands of entries to 5 choices, the Apollos, Bobcats, Stallions, Texans and Wildcatters. After six months of local voting the name “Texans” was picked.
Current Uniform
The Texans have worn the same jersey styles in since their inaugural year. They wear a dark blue jersey for home games, but have worn an alternate red jersey in a few games.
