Hi, welcome to my Movie Reviews Page at Omni Prime! On this page I will rate movies that interest me, movies that I have seen that I think are terrible so I might spare you the agony of seeing them, and movies that I think are awesome. The movies are arranged in alphabetical order. I try to write the reviews about a day or so after I have seen the movie to capture the full effect, but still remaining objective (hopefully). The rating range from 0 to 5 stars, in 4 areas and an overall rating. I would like to say that you should keep in mind that I am an Nuclear Engineering major, which means my grammar is poor. Also, I am sorry if you do not have a broadband connection, I did not create this page with 56k in mind. This page will take about 227 seconds to to load on a 56k (7 seconds on a T1). I think having movie posters next to the movie is a good idea, adding life to the page. If you like the movie posters I have here, they can be found at AllPosters.com, which I found to have the best quality movie posters.

Movie Summary
Joilette Jake is paroled out from jail and his brother, Elwood, picks him up in his "new" car. From there, they go on a 'Mission from God' to raise money to save the orphanage in which they were raised in. There they reunite their band. Despite being chased by the Good ole Boys, Nazis, and the Chicago Highway Patrol, they put off a huge concert to save the Penguin's home.

My Review
Before watching this movie, I never really heard blues and jazz. Though not really called a 'musical' in the norm, this would be my favorite 'musical' movie. The plot is well-thought and the events flow relatively smoothly and quickly. I never got bored due to the plot transition. The acting is well played, both by Dan Akroyd and the late John Belushi. the plethora of car chases and witty lines makes this movie very comical. Being made in 1980, the special effects were lacking. However, this movie did have well-orchestrated music scenes, from the diner scene to the music store jam to the big concert towards the end, this movie can hold it's own as one of the best against the test of time.

Movie Summary
"The General who became a slave, the slave that became a gladiator, the gladiator who defied an Emperor." ~ Emperor Commodus. That quote sums up the movie.  After a battle with the Germanic armies of the north, Commodus murdered his father, Emporer Aurelius, after learning that he would not succeed him as Emperor of Rome. He then sentences Maximus, who Aurelius appointed to be his successor, to death. Maximus escaped and fled to Spain where he becomes a slave. He is then forced to fight in the games in North Africa. After his success there, Proximo, his owner, brings him to Rome to fight in Commodus' games to commemorate his father. In Rome, Maximus has the chance to take his vengeance on Commodus and restore power back to the Senate.

My Review
When I saw the previews for this movie I was skeptical. If I had to make a comparison to what type of movie I thought it was, it looked like something similar to The One, which came out two years later. However, once I was in the theater my perception immediately changed. This movie is awesome! It has a great combination of vivid action and excellent storytelling. The acting is excellent, in fact Russell Crowe won the 2000 Oscar for Best Actor in this movie. The graphics are incredible and so is the soundtrack, which suits the movie perfectly. This movie will make you feel like you are in the Roman Coliseum. The array of memorable quotes will keep this movie in the public's eye for a long time. This is definitely one my favorite movies.

Catalyzed by a freak lab accident, Bruce's inner conflict culminates when he becomes the most powerful being on the face of the earth - the Hulk. General Ross backed by an army of tanks, helicopters and soldiers aims to destroy the Hulk. In this movie Banner - a hunted abomination - strives to mend his relationship with General Ross's daughter, Betty, and uncover the answers to his enigmatic past.

My Review
This movie is a piece of crap. Crap! First the plot was very predictable. Second, did they even research what they were talking about? Near the end of the movie a "gamma bomb" goes off with a huge purple explosion. There is no such thing as a gamma bomb, and no one would make one because it is pointless. If you're going to release that much radiation, just use a nuclear bomb. Also, gamma rays are invisible not purple! Also gamma rays kill. They are used to kill cancer and if you take a lethal dose, you die. How could they miss that? The military tactics were stupid as well. This movie is dumb, simple as that. They tried to do more drama than action in this movie, but it would of been much better if they did more action because the only good element this movie has is the special effects.

Movie Summary
Jumba, a scientist is sentenced to imprisonment after creating a life whose sole purpose is to destroy. His creation, Experiment 626, is sentenced to exile on a desert planet. On route he escapes and flees to an Pacific island on Earth. His creator and an Earth expert are sent to find him. Lilo and her sister meet Experiment 626 in a pound after he was ran over by a truck. Lilo faces being removed from her sister by a social worker if their condition did not improve. 626, named "Stitch" by Lilo, heavily complicates these matters in a storyline that is both comical and moving.

My Review
Okay, I have to admit the primary reason I chose to review this movie was so I could put that quote in under the title above this review. That quote was just so incredibly unpredictable. It came out of nowhere in the Stitch vs. Jumba scene near the end of the movie. Stitch just pulls a chainsaw out of nowhere! It's just like the classic gag that the early cartoons used when Bugs Bunny would pull a stick of dynamite from behind him. Anyways, on to the review...
I think this is the best movie Disney came out with since The Lion King. It comes off as something much more than comical, as are most Disney movies, but this one just seemed to contain something more. They skipped out the musical sequences that most Disney movies have, which seemed to suit this movie well. The music was created by Hawaiian instruments and a Hawaiian choir. The music suited the movie very well. I really enjoyed this movie, it made me laugh and feel sympathy for the characters. The recurring theme of "family" in the movie makes this a great family movie, no matter the size of your family, which was a very important theme though out the movie. Some Disney movies become unpopular and unspoken of until a sequel comes out. And with all the sequels coming out nowadays, I am really glad Disney came out with something original.

Movie Summary
heh heh. This will take way to long to summarize. I am not even going to try. Summaries can also make a movie look dry, which is something I will never want to imply about this movie. But from how terrible my writing skills are at this point (I used to be much better if you can believe that, heh heh), I doubt my review will make it look any drier than this summary.

My Review
This movie is the ultimate fantasy based on a book which became the standard in determining fantasy. This movie you in the world of Middle-Earth, which you cannot tell if it is real or computer generated due to the amazing special effects. They knew when and when not to use them. However, the special effects can only go so far when making a movie great; the acting and writing in this movie were excellent. The writers kept Tolkien's poetic language though they removed all the songs, which I thought was a good idea, I just can't imagine Legolas singing happy elf songs.

When you consider an epic, such as Star Wars or The Iliad and the Odyssey, the focal point is on a hero, how he usually accepts his quest with resentment, and on the characters whom help him to accomplish his quest. There is usually internal conflict within the hero character as well. Epics usually have very varied surroundings and strange people in distant lands (For more info on epics, consult your local English professor, i.e.: Bruce Saulpaugh at BMHS) The Lord of the Rings is an epic. It takes us into a world so incredibly well crafted. The movie shows us vast landscapes, from the peaceful Shire to the depths of the Mines of Moria to the hallowed forests of Lorien. Frodo Baggins is the perfect example of an epic hero. He is in love with his homeland, so much, that he will take on what seems to be a suicidal quest to save it. He is aided by members of the free people of Middle Earth to help him fulfill his quest (Further  explanation  will ruin The Return of the King, *must fight urge to tell you more.....*).

Everything about this movie was done perfectly, from the battles to the dialogue, to every single costume, which were very carefully selected. Most movies just have consumes that are not worn by the main characters just good enough to get by. In this movie, they are all made with thought. I am tired, will finish this review later.

Movie Summary
Okay, I am going to attempt to write a summary for an LOTR movie. This is so dry I don't know why I bother. Frodo and Sam meet up with Gollum who leads them to Mordor. Pippen and Merry escape their orc captors and meet up with Treebeard and Gandalf the White in Fangorn Forrest. Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas meet up with Gandolf the White in Fangorn as well and then go to Edoras. There they meet Wormtounge who has been corrupting the King of Rohan, Théoden. Gandalf brings Théoden back from the corruption. They learn of Saruman's army and evacuate Edoras and head for Helm's Deep, a stronghold in the mountains that has never been defeated. Meanwhile, Frodo, Sam, and Gollum meet up with Faramir who takes them to their hideout in North Ithilien, then the Osgiliath, which was a city under siege by Sauron's forces. Saruman's army meets up with Théoden's / the Elves' forces at Helm's Deep in a huge battle. Saruman's forces slowly take over Helm's Deep part by part, until Gandolf and Eomer's forces come down off the mountain to crush Saruman's army. Frodo and Sam are released by Faramir and continue their quest to Mordor with Gollum.

My Review
This movie has a much quicker pace than The Fellowship of the Ring. The plot develops and many more characters are introduced. They did an excellent job of showing the weight of Frodo's burden through his actions. I can't even imagine a better way to show the conflict between the one Gollum and Sméagol than the way they did it in this movie. The Two Towers has it's own theme song, independent of The Fellowship of the Ring, and it did an excellent job of reflecting the tenseness of the movie. The second movie of three usually tends to have the most tension, the least hope, and this movie did just that. As a movie, it was great (and very long, esp. when you're in the third row), but as to showing what happened in the book.......
Faramir never tried to take the ring from Frodo! They did a terrible job for this character, he had a great feast with Frodo and talked to him for a much greater time in the book, however, doing so in the movie would take up valuable time, and push it over three hours. Also, Gandalf never was an exorcist! I was just waiting for King Théoden's head to start spinning while Legolas, Aaragorn, and Gimli fought off Théoden's guards. And since when did Elves even show up in The Two Towers? I can understand why they came to Helm's Deep, that was actually pretty cool. But they played this game with Aragorn, it's like, let's see how many times we can knock him out so Arwen can get more time in the movie. She never was in The Two Towers! Also, Théoden is a great fighter and inspirer among men. They portray him as the "Who cares? We're all going to die!" character near the end of the battle of Helm's Deep. I swear, he seems more like Lord Denethor of Minas Tirith than King Théoden. However, some of the liberties they took turned out fairly well, such as showing what the battle in Osgiliath might be like.

Peter strived to hold to good principles as the Green Goblin tried to make him partners in evil.

My Review
This movie is awesome! It has everything you can ask for in it. I believe it is the best movie shown during summer 2002. It has the ability to entertain a wide variety of audiences and keep them interested throughout the movie. The plot is solid and entertaining. The acting was great. You can easily catch onto what the characters are going though from the beginning. This movie has comedy in it as well "The Human Spider? That's the best you got? That ****s!" ~ Wrestling Announcer in Spiderman. This movie is fun and good to see with anyone. This is what I think of as a classic superhero film, other films should be modeled after this one.

Movie Summary
Picard is ordered to Romulus by Starfleet Command because the Romulan Empire's government had a dramatic shift in power. Once there, he meets his clone, Shinzon, who had seized power in the Senate. Shinzon was conceived in the regal senate halls of Romulus and forged in the dilithium mines of Remus. He spoke of peace but had planes to destroy all life on Earth and conquer the Federation. However, Picard's DNA is the only thing that can save his life. Shinzon has to capture Picard before he can eliminate all life on Earth.

My Review
ST:X is awesome! This is THE movie that Star Trek needed to end TNG with. Bearing a remarkable resemblance to Star Trek II: The Wraith of Khan, this movie was everything Star Trek: TNG had tried to before but failed at in their attempt. Star Trek finally has a battle scene that involves strategy. For example, when dorsal shields fell to 10%, Picard had to rotate the Enterprise so that the ventral side was facing Shinzon's warship, then fire with all ventral weapons. There has not been a Star Trek movie to date that has paid this much attention to detail. They also had subtle humor in it, it no longer looked like they were trying to be funny, it was natural. Star Trek finally did a movie that encompassed what Star Trek is supposed to be like.
This is movie is very involving. Star Trek finally left the scenes that can become slow and distance the viewer. Even though it had such a involving an well written plot, it had a few errors. However, the Romulan Senate seemed awfully small for a huge empire. Also, a major character makes the ultimate sacrifice - and is then resurrected (in a way) all in one movie; Spock had to wait for a sequel to come back to life after his memorable service in The Wrath of Khan. However, I would of liked to of seen a more of a fitting memorial service for Data (yes, I know he was never alive). On a side note, I hope that "Admiral" Janeway saw all the time she would ever get in the Star Trek movie series, if ST:X isn't the last Star Trek movie.
ST:X, the finale to the Next Generation series, not only ended the series with an awesome movie, but ended it with a movie that truly encompasses the essence of Star Trek.

Movie Summary
In the future Earth becomes covered in water and humanity is forced to live on ships. On a girl's back is a tattoo of a map to "dry land", a land mass that was not covered by the extreme flood. People fight to get to this dry land.

My Review
This is one of the worst movies I have seen. First of all, how the heck does a human grow gills? They say it's evolution, but do they have any clue as to how long that would take? Look at whales; they are mammals that live in the water and they have been around much longer than humans. They still have not developed gills; they breathe air just like we do. But let's just put this aside for a minute and assume that it has indeed been several million years since humans have been forced to leave land and they have had time time to develop gills. The bad guys in this movie use gas powered jet skis. The writers explain this by making the HQ of the bad guys an Exxon-Valdez oil tanker, having only a fixed amount of oil on it; they do not have any oil rigs. Ok, so enough time passes for humans to develop gills but still not run out of oil on an oil tanker? On top of that, the acting is poor, the soundtrack is terrible, and seeing so much water in a movie can make you seasick on your couch. It isn't like Moby Dick, where you won't get seasick because it has good acting and a real ship (Capt. Picard is in it, what more could you ask for?). In Waterworld they actually have the back and forth motion because the main character's boat is a catamaran, not a sailing ship. This movie can actually make you want to puke, but not because of the sailing motion, but because of the incredibly bad plot. The only cool thing this movie has are explosions, lots of them, which isn't saying much because any movie can do that.
