Pump testing:

To see if the specifications for the pump were correct, its performance was tested using a PVC extension and sink strainer as a simulated apparatus. The shroud around the impeller was removed to mate the PVC directly to the inlet of the pump to create the necessary suction. Quarters and pennies were placed on the bottom of a sink basin filled to about 15" of tap water. The pump successfully picked up the change up to two coins at a time. This proves that the pressure drop at the inlet of the PVC was sufficient and the actual system has hope.
