Description
of Assignment: The purpose of this assignment was for students
to conduct a statistical analysis in a particular area using one dependent
variable, two nominal variables, and two ordinal variables. Students
were required to find research of past studies and then use information
gathered from the General Social Survey to conduct bivariate, multivariate,
and cross tabs analysis. From this study students were required to
use their knowledge of subject matter and of the scientific method in developing
a hypothesis, testing it, and coming to a conclusion. Students tested
the significance of relationships while controlling for others in order
to explain variations in the dependent variable.
Rationale
(Why you chose to use this as an illustration and how it is an example
of the Accomplished Practice: I chose this paper because it demonstrated
my knowledge in conducting statistical analysis as well as the organization
or material. Not only does this paper display my writing and research
ability, but it also serves as a prime example of how I used that research
as a basis for conducting my own study.
