Orange & Blue
The table of contents page (above) and the department pages (below) are pages I designed for Orange & Blue magazine, a student-produced publication I was Art Director for. The following three spreads are drafts of feature articles I have put together for the magazine. I designed the pages and directed the shoot. Bulletin Board
The bulletin board was a project for a design class where I had to convey my personality and interests through print design. Since I love to scrapbook and I’m always a little random, the bulletin board was a good choice for me. ., ., Rural Health
This rural health care feature design was an assignment for a magazine design class. We were given photographs and content and asked to create an original design that worked with the content and told a photo story that could stand alone. The publication it was designed for was Missouri News, a monthly news magazine in Macon county, Missouri. ., Bike Magazine
I was given the task of creating a table of contents and a department page for a fixed-gear cyclist magazine. I don’t know anything about the culture of this genre, but I had to create a design that would appeal to the audience and not necessarily to my own styles. It was a great chance to do something I’m not used to doing. ., Multiple Births
This story is about in vitro fertilization and the alarming success rates doctors are experiencing. I was given the story and asked to direct a photo shoot for all of the art as well as create a design to pair it with. ., That Girl!
That Girl! is a magazine prototype I helped put together in my magazine management class under the direction of Betty Cortina. I was Art Director for the magazine and the project was both a learning experience and a great time. These designs are the cover and the fashion shoot (below). I not only did the layout for the fashion story, I also directed the shots, which was both amazing and stressful! Gang Tattoos
The feature below was a story we ran about gang members who are tattooed as initiation into their gangs and the problems they encounter when they try to break the ties of their pasts and shed the skin of their old lives. Body Painting
The story below was about a woman who paints faces, is a professional clown, and competes in body painting competitions. It ran in Orange & blue magazine. Stephanie Wickham
This feature was about an animated young woman who is affected by her albinism every day, and yet still maintains a healthy sense of humor in her life. ., Corporate Jungle
This fashion shoot (below) was directed by myself and another designer as a concept for a business fashion story. ., Domestic
This is a magazine cover I designed for Domestic, a prototype for a women’s magazine. ., The Florida Engineer
I have spent the summer working for The Florida Engineer, an alumni magazine for engineers from the University of Florida. While I was designing for the magazine, it underwent a complete redesign and I helped to create a new look for the book. I am still working on the project, so I will be uploading new samples every week as it progresses. .,
