So I made it back to Gainesville, unscathed and untainted by the big, bad city, at 4AM today. I totally got at least one (possibly even two!) good REM cycles in before I had to take Pat to his clase de español. Unfortunately my body still seems to be under the impression that I never went to bed, as evidenced by the complete dissolution of all motor/comprehensible language skills that I am currently experiencing.

I don't have access to the pictures from the first three days of the trip right now, so I'll make this real easy on us all. Our last day in the city went a little something like this:

We went and saw and made then pontificated about until we had to leave.

So we're all back in Gainesville, safe and sound, and now I definitely feel .

i like that fall lasted for all of three days before reverting back to summer. the new york times local edition called the weather "unseasonably warm". i call it lame. très lame.

i locked myself out of the apartment two weeks ago when i went out to mail off the rent check. after about five minutes or so of "oh, shit" playing on repeat in my head and mentally crossing items off the list of available methods of communication, i finally realized the door wasn't going to unlock itself and the only other person with a key had just left for the morning. i also knew i had no hope of counting on jazz n. brown or lc to come to my rescue, as they lack opposable thumbs and a real desire to see me safe, so i knew i needed to take matters into my own hands.

with a move i saw once in a more contemporary episode of mcguyver, i managed to pry my kitchen window open with my bare hands and scale the mighty wall to climb through it. in reality, the kitchen window (surprise surprise) has no lock, and the window itself was about three feet off the ground. but it made me feel powerful and crafty nonetheless. crafty and powerful for about 5 minutes until i realized someone might have seen me break into my own home and, not knowing any better, called the cops. fortunately for me, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, then an hour elapsed and the fuzz never came round, and since it's been two weeks or so now i think i'm in the clear.

in more recent news, i had krishna lunch for the first time ever today. it was a beautiful gastrointestinal experience.

two days until

plenty of time for it to get cold up there, says i!
