This is the first half of a two part beginning series at the University of Florida.  Students will concurrently (1) master vocabulary, morphology, and syntax in units 1-10 of Hansen and Quinn’s Greek: An Intensive Course, and (2) practice in the fluid translation of Ancient Greek to English and English to Ancient Greek.  Students will leave this class prepared to succeed in Greek 1121 and any 2000-level translation class.

We will have daily grammar, reading and vocabulary practice. You will be expected to bring prepared translations, as well as sight-read in class. Participation is a very important part of your final grade, so always be prepared to contribute. We will also have quizzes that will cover vocabulary, grammar, and translation. These are meant to keep you on track and prepare you for tests. Always be punctual, as quizzes will often be given at the beginning of class. Make-ups are not allowed except in rare and documented circumstances.
