Generosa Sangco-Jackson

About me:
I am a graduate student beginning the fourth year of my PhD.  My interests include both Greek and Roman epic, 1st century BCE Latin poetry, Roman Topography, post-colonial theory, and Greek archaeology.  For more on my academic career, see my CV.

As for my personal background, I am a first-generation college student, a military brat, and a daughter of a single mother.  I grew up all along the east coast, but spent most of my time in New Jersey and Florida.  I took high school Latin in Jacksonville, Florida and played the awesomest game ever, Certamen.  Though my husband and I were friends in high school, we didn’t date until we were undergraduates.  We have been married nearly 5 years, have 2 cats, 2 dogs, and a condo.

My goals and ambitions are to travel to Italy once a year (or better yet, have an apartment there), to teach at a university that has seasons and great football, to own more pairs of shoes than I can actually wear in one year, to produce at least one remarkable translation, one great reference text, and one fabulous commentary, and to get out of student loan debt.
