Bio
Francisco Salgado-Robles is a
Teaching Associate of Spanish Language and Culture in the Department of Spanish
and Portuguese Studies at the University of Florida.
Born and raised in Cádiz,
Spain, Francisco has been pleasantly linked to Sevilla, Spain, for personal,
educational and professional ties since 1999. He received a licenciatura in English Philology and a
Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics from the Universidad de Sevilla (Spain). He
holds a second M.A. in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of
Missouri at Kansas City. He also obtained the Postgraduate
Certificate in Education from the Universidad
de Extremadura (Spain).
Currently, Francisco is a PhD candidate (ABD) in Hispanic Linguistics at the University of
Florida.
Guided by Dr. Gillian Lord, Francisco is
writing his dissertation on the acquisition of the sociolinguistic variation in
Spanish in a study abroad context. His research includes second language
acquisition, sociolinguistics, language variation and change, and language
contact.
Since 2004 Professor
Salgado-Robles has taught Spanish in different institutions in the USA and
Spain, including courses of language (i.e., grammar and conversation courses,
ranging from the elementary to advanced levels), content (e.g., Spanish for the
Health Sciences, Commercial Spanish, Methods of Teaching Spanish as a
Second/Foreign Language, Andalusian Sociolinguistics), and culture (e.g. Latin
American Business Environment, Language Contact in Spain and the European
Union).
