About me
Studies
I'm a doctoral
student in Hispanic Linguistics in the Department of Romance Languages
and Literatures at the University of Florida. I was admitted to candidacy for
the Ph.D. on April, 2004. Currently, I'm
working on my dissertation
research project, which
examines the historical development of the appendices in bilingual
English-Spanish dictionaries. I
chose this topic after working as an
editorial assistant on the fifth edition of The University of Chicago
Spanish Dictionary, under Dr. Pharies' direction and
supervision.
My other
areas of interest are: child bilingualism
and technology in foreign language teaching. I got the Master's degree
in
Linguistics here at UF and my Bachelor's degree in English Literature
at the Universidad
Nacional Autónoma de
México.
Personal
I
was born in La Paz, BCS
(Mexico), a beautiful city by the sea. But I've lived in
many other cities: Mazatlán, Puebla, Hermosillo, Monterrey,
Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Valley City (ND) and
Gainesville
(FL). Maybe that's why I love traveling and learning about other
cultures; especially languages and dialectal differences.
