These are the first hole scores for six miniature golf players.
If we wanted to split the players into 2 divisions,
what could be the cutoff??
Here, you would find the "middle" number, so that your set is split in half.
If there is an even number of items,
find the midpoint of the 2 middle numbers.
This gives the MEDIAN: the value that splits the set into 2 equal subsets.
There are 6 items. 2 and 3 are in the middle. Half-way is 2.5!
The MEDIAN is 2.5, so anyone scoring 1 or 2 will be in the "expert" division.
