Dear Student Leaders,
I am emailing to
invite you all to another meeting to promote solidarity amongst black students
to be held on January 24 @ 6 pm at the I BC. Recent events have occurred
such as: the American Indian Movement’s protest against the Alligator, a call
for diversity of Alligator staff and a fresh start with the Black community,
and of course in light of Dr. Martin’s Luther King’s birthday and our move into
Black History Month. These events and others call for a reassessment of
our values as black students and of our commitment to unity amongst black
students on campus. I believe it is an awesome time to reflect on our
strategy against the Alligator, talk about what we would have done differently
or what we wouldn’t change, and talk about strategies to maintain and further
develop the unity that was formed so that it may continue into the
future. Please come out and be a part of what I hope to be one of many
dialogues in the future. Please RSVP if you will be in attendance!
