Third Annual End-of-Year BBQ

The Third Annual End-of-Year BBQ was held at the home of Professor Diana Karol-Nagy. Many Communication Studies graduates were in attendance. The NCASC members and CWOC faculty joined them as well. This year our BBQ was catered by Tori's Bar-B-Q and the food was fabulous! This year we honored two outstanding Communication Studies Minors, Brynn Huysman and Kayla Stanley, our first-ever tie for this award. Honored as Top Communication Studies Pre-Professional was Jim Careccia.
Our transition team became our new Executive Board. Congratulations are in order to our new officers: President, Morgan Howard; Vice-President and Membership Chair, Carty Seay; and Treasurer and VP of Communications, Jackie Azis. Our new E-Board is ready to hit the ground running, starting with classroom visits during Summer B and the Fall. First Annual Spring Leadership and Communication Workshop - 2008!

Thanks to the generosity of the Florida Communication Association. We applied for and won a grant to hold the first, of what we hope are many, Leadership and Communication Workshops. In attendance were faculty and students from area high schools: Eastside High School, Gainesville High School, PK Young School and Trilogy School.
A special thanks goes out to the E-Board members; Jim Careccia, Kayla Stanley, and Brynn Huysmann. Also a thanks goes out to our new club members and workshop volunteers; Morgan Howard and Jackie Azis.

Guest Speaker: Kim K. Johnson, Manager of Events Planning, Disney Events Group, Orlando, Florida. Ms. Johnson is President-Elect of the Florida Communication Association.
This event was open to the entire UF campus, and the Public Relations Student Club was especially invited as the special guests of the NCASC-Gator Chapter. Thie event was well attended and very much enjoyed!

Our guest speaker was Dr. Kim McCall, who led us in an interactive workshop on dealing with Communication Apprehension. She presented from 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. We learned much and had a good time!

We had our first annual NCASC - Gator Chapter BBQ at Professor Nagy's house. We installed the new officers and ate lots of food! A good time was had by all!

The planning committee met several times in Professor Nagy's office and home to get the group off the ground. A constitution and mission statement were made and adopted on April 9, 2006
