I am a graduate student studying transportation engineering, with a bachelors in civil engineering. I was a little worried about taking this course due to the lack of electrical engineering background, but after the first day’s lecture I feel excited about the project. William Dubel’s talk to the class was extremely helpful for the decision on which board and microcontroller to use. I have decided to go with the ATMEL based board the MAVRIK II B. Also all the sites that were listed on the board and in the syllabus will no doubt be beneficial in the upcoming weeks.
Since I am interested in transportation, I would like to incorporate it into my robot. My idea is to create a robot that would be able to distinguish between the red, yellow, and green phases of a traffic signal.
I was not quiet sure about the special sensor topic discussed in Tuesday’s class, I was wondering if an elaboration on that topic might be possible in the future or as the course progresses.
