1. What is UF-Sea Level Rise Viewer?
UF-SLR Viewer is a
free tool with a user friendly interface designed to help local planning
agencies and other interested institutions in Tampa Bay Region to understand
local vulnerability to sea level rise. Using UF-SLR Viewer, Non-experts can
easily view estimated vulnerability in Tampa Bay Region under different Sea
Level Rise Scenarios.
2. Why use UF-Sea Level Rise Viewer?
Tampa Bay Region Planning agencies,
research institutions, urban planners and others can use UF-SLR Viewer to:
<> find out vulnerable facilities in
inundation zones and low-lying areas under different sea level rise scenarios;
<> acquire the information of vulnerable
critical infrastructures;
<> view the infrastructure vulnerability
and integrated vulnerability of Tampa Bay Region at census block group level
under different scenarios;
<> understand the causes of the
infrastructure vulnerability and integrated vulnerability in each census block
group
3. How to use UF-Sea Level Rise Viewer?
<> Select "Inundated
Infrastructure" menu in the upper left corner to view the inundated
critical infrastructures. Select "Low-lying Infrastructure" menu in
the upper left corner to view vulnerable critical infrastructures in low-lying
area. Click on any vulnerable infrastructure of interest to view its
information in the lower right corner.
<> Select "Infrastructure
Vulnerability" menu in the upper left corner to view infrastructures
vulnerability at the census block group level. Click on any census block group
of interest to view its infrastructure vulnerability score and causes of
vulnerability in the lower right corner. The following attributes help to
identify the most vulnerable infrastructures that should be prioritized to
protect in a census block group.
<> The attribute "ift Infrastructure Vul Score" shows its
infrastructure vulnerability score under i ft sea level rise scenario.
<> The Attribute "Emergency Operation Center" shows
the contribution of vulnerable emergency operation centers in this census block
group to Infrastructure Vulnerability in this census block group.
<> The attribute "Health Care Facility" shows the
contribution of vulnerable health care facility in this census block group to
Infrastructure Vulnerability in this census block group.
<> The attribute "Road" shows the contribution of
vulnerable roads in this census block group to Infrastructure Vulnerability in
this census block group.
<> The attribute "Aviation Facility" shows the
contribution of vulnerable aviation facilities in this census block group to
Infrastructure Vulnerability in this census block group.
<> The attribute "Rail" shows the contribution of
vulnerable railways in this census block group to Infrastructure Vulnerability
in this census block group.
<> The attribute "Intermodal Distribution Center"
shows the contribution of vulnerable distribution center in this census block
group to Infrastructure Vulnerability in this census block group.
<> Select "Integrated
Vulnerability" menu in the upper left corner to view integrated
vulnerability at the census block group level. Click on any census block group
of interest to view its integrated vulnerability score and causes of
vulnerability in the lower right corner.
<> Attribute "ift Economic Vul Score" shows the value of economic
vulnerability index. It is a value between 0 and 1, with 0 representing the
least vulnerable and 1 representing the most vulnerable.
<> Attribute "ift Infrastructure Vul Score" shows the value of infrastructure
vulnerability index as above.
<> Attribute "ift Social Vul Score" shows the value of social
vulnerability index produced by the Hazards and Vulnerability Research
Institute at the University of South Carolina, obtained from NOAA Coastal
Service Center.
<> Attribute "Infrastructure
Effect" shows the contribution of infrastructure vulnerability in a census
block group to the Integrated Vulnerability in this census block group.
<> Attribute "Economic Effect"
shows the contribution of economic vulnerability in a census block group to
Integrated Vulnerability in this census block group.
<> Attribute "Social Effect"
shows the contribution of social vulnerability in a census block group to
Integrated Vulnerability in this census block group.
By looking at the "Infrastructure Effect",
"Economic Effect", and "Social Effect" attributes, the most
vulnerable section in a census block group could be identified, indicating what
aspect (e.g. infrastructure protection, community resilience building, or
business protection) the adaption should focus on in the vulnerable census
block groups.
4. What does legend mean?
<> Legends of Inundated Infrastructure and
Low-lying Infrastructure show the symbology of the vulnerable critical
infrastructures displayed
<> Legends of Infrastructure vulnerability
and integrated vulnerability shows a scale of vulnerability from the least
vulnerable to the most vulnerable
5. What is infrastructure vulnerability index and integrated vulnerability
index?
<> Infrastructure Vulnerability is an
index that considers weighted vulnerable critical infrastructures of different
types (e.g. emergency operation center, health care facilities, principal
transportation facilities, fuel distribution centers, police and fire
department).
<> Integrated Vulnerability is an index
that considers weighted social, economic, and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
