My ceramic work is constructed of red earthenware. I use templates and Yixing tools like those used to build the tiny teapots among other sculpture utensils. Before the clay has dried, landscapes are carved into the sides and additional elements such as architectural or trailer elements are applied. Color is added through the application of colored slips, terra sigillatas, oxides, underglazes, and glazes. After firing some areas are treated with wax encaustic or other stains. Lastly, neccessary hardware elements are added.
