I came to UF in 2007 and I am majoring in Biochemistry.  I am also an honors student on the pre-medical track.

I work in the lab of Drs. Doug and Pam Soltis in the Florida Museum of Natural History Laboratory of Molecular Systematics and Evolutionary Genetics.  I work through as a mentee under the supervision of Charlotte Germain-Aubrey, a PhD candidate in the lab.  In my individual research project I am evaluating molecular markers in a population genetics study using the Florida endangered, endemic species Polygala lewtonii.  I am comparing between microsatellite variability and compound microsatellite variation (microsatellites along with the flanking region of DNA just outside the repeat sequence) in assessing the effect of the added flanking region on qualifying species richness.

Some interests of mine include playing soccer, golf (2006 Brevard County district champion), acting as vice president of the UF Roots and Shoots club, and studying Brazilian Portuguese.

The undergraduate fellowship I received in the U.F.  G.A.T.O.R. program was funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
