Sonya Leonore Stahl

Ms. Stahl has over two decades of playing experience and performs in a wide variety of musical genres, including but not limited to classical, old-timey, Celtic, and sixties classic rock. She studied under Mei Mei Luo and Dr. Janna Lower, and received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 2004. Ms. Stahl has instructed teenagers in fiddle traditions, clogging, and other aspects of mountain culture, and was the Youth Fiddle Scholarship recipient at the Swannanoa Gathering Old-Time Music and Dance Week in 2000. She was featured as one of the wandering minstrels at the Florida Rennaisance Festival in 1999. She performed two official recitals while completing her degree and is a section member of the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra. She has also played with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the Gainesville Civic Chorus, the Willis Bodine Chorale, the Central Florida Philharmonic, and the Central Florida Symphony. Her favorite composers are Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Dvorak, and J.S. Bach.
