kings of power
4.8.09

Here's a quick sample of the code I'm working on. It ran a few minutes of Kings of Power 4Billion Percent by Paul Robertson. I chose it for this test run because it has a lot of diversity as far as color goes, and many rapid scene changes. I'll keep putting test footage up as I run the code on longer films. I've had some problems running full-length films, as I get memory errors and the like, issues I'll have to look further into and diagnose.

pattern recognition

Katerie recommended to me a book to read. It's William Gibson's Pattern Recognition. The idea behind it is somewhat similar to what I'm going for with my final project. The main character, Cayce Pollard, is a fan of a strange internet phenomenon, referred to by other fans as "The Footage." These are seemingly random clips of video, that are notably timeless. Several theories fly around a particular message board Fetish:Footage:Forum. I'm a few chapters in, and it's really picking up, and keeping my interest.

I should probably mention how this relates to my processing project. I'm wanting to write a program that analyzes video. Particularly color use in movies. I'm still unsure of how exactly it will work and what exactly it will be looking at, but this is what I'm tossing around.
