Brief Bio.

Chao Li was born and raised in Taiyuan, Shanxi, known as the largest coal mining center in China. His parents both hold bachelor's degrees and are all mechanical engineers.

In Sep. 2002, Chao entered the Affiliated High School of Shanxi University, which is one of the best high schools in Shanxi province. He graduated with first-class honor in 2005 and was selected into Zhejiang University, one of the most prestigious universities in China without taking the mandatory national college entrance examinations. In Sep. 2005, Chao was selected into the Mixed Honors Class at Chu Kochen Honors College. This is an extremely competitive engineering program, drawing the most talented students (top 5%) in Zhejiang University. In his third year of undergraduate study, Chao chose electronic & information as his major. As the National IC Design Training Base, Zhejiang University offered many advanced courses of circuits and systems. Those courses gave Chao a complete view of modern silicon systems and have therefore helped him to focus his interests on computer-aided design, micro-architecture as well as implementation of advanced computing technologies. In Aug. 2008, Chao took part in the Summer Session at UCLA as a short-term visiting student.

Chao received the prestigous four-year Graduate Alumni Fellowship Award from the University of Florida in 2009. He will pursue his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering there. It is great to be a Gator!
