Bagels Unlimited

This breakfast staple has serious small-town appeal with its friendly staff and old-timey charm. You can usually find the owner standing behind the knick knack-covered counter at the front, up since 4 a.m. to bake up fresh batches of bagels to serve customers. The narrow space is filled with golf memorabilia, an assortment of tables and benches and plenty of Gator gear. A clock on the front wall counts down to the next Gator athletic event and signed pictures of famous players hang around the register. The nod to Florida athletics doesn't go unnoticed - many athletes frequent the spot thanks to its large portions and offerings of mom-and-pop-style dishes like breakfast casserole, egg sandwiches and biscuits and gravy. My most notable sightings have been John Brantley and the Pouncey twins, though others who recommended the spot said they had seen everyone from Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte to kicker Caleb Sturgis.

This pint-sized diner has one of the best - if not the best - breakfast selections in town for students looking to get a great deal. There's always plenty of coffee on hand to enjoy while browsing the local paper - or your Twitter feed - and it can be difficult to decide on just one dish when you see what everyone around you is eating. From pancake stacks the size of Frisbees to omlets the length of a football, this restaurant does not slack when it comes to portion sizes. Whatever you end up ordering, make sure to choose a freshly baked bagel to go along with it. With flavors like blueberry, asiago cheese, multi-grain and spinach, there's a bagel for every taste.

There's also an impressive hot sauce collection that takes up eight shelves by the back booths. Local favorites like Micanopy Gold and classics like a huge bottle of Tabasco help bring the collection to more than 100 bottles. If you want to add an extra kick to your homefries or omlet, don't be afraid to ask for a recommendation from the waitress.
