Research
"Human passions
have mysterious ways, in children as well as grown-ups. Those affected
by them can't explain them, and those who haven't known them have no
understanding of them at all. ... There are as many different passions
as there are people." From
Michael Ende's The
Neverending Story
My primary research interest is fantasy
literature for children and young adults. I also have interests in
American
literature, psychoanalysis of literature, and comic studies.
Past Projects
Please see my curriculum vitae for more
information.
Recent Research
I am currently working on my dissertation, which deals with issues
of intertextuality and postmodernity in children's and young adult literature.
Recently, I've been completing my second chapter, which will focus on such
text as Sunbonnet Babies in Mother
Goose Land by Eulalia Osgood Grover (illustrated by Bertha Corbett
Melcher), published by Rand McNally & Co in 1927.
To read the full story, please visit the Children's Books Online website
version of Sunbonnet
Babies in Mother Goose Land.
