The place to go for original Gator gear.

Still wondering what to wear at the next Gator sporting event? Just ask an expert.

Ilene Silverman owns Ilene's Gator Store on NW 43rd Street. She said her store is where Gator passion meets Gator fashion.

Since Silverman has been in the fashion business since 1989, she said she has seen trends come and go throughout the years.

This season's biggest trend is geared to the modern woman with a focus on spirited colors rather than official Gator pieces.

"The preferences are now collegiate colors and different styles," she said. "There's not as much emphasis on collegiate licensed products like a Gator head."

Silverman recommended that Gator fans choose an orange and blue colored outfit and individualize it with eye-catching additions. She said the hottest products right now are sparkly Gator accessories, including orange and blue crystal jewelry and hair accessories that are embellished with crystals.

"That sparkle, shine and glimmer are so popular right now," she said.

Silverman creates a number of clothing designs that are exclusive to her store. She said these original designs can make fans stand out and feel special.

"With 80,000 fans in that stadium, you want something that will be a little distinctive," she said.

Men can also stand apart from the crowd by purchasing Gator polos, ties and Hawaiian shirts from Silverman's store. She said comfort is key with the men, but it's usually the women that purchase their clothing.

Silverman said that both men and women in the Gator Nation have some of the best fashion sense in the country. With her designs, she said fans are sure to turn heads.

"You can never say that someone has on too much orange and blue."
